Pob Wrote:Look like we are getting a bit of a concensus here - FSE seems to give the best performance for the new PVRX2, and in my case for 99.12.
By best performance I mean no juddering and no tearing / vertical lines.
So now I wonder if the well known bugs using FSE will be ironed out?

The ones I can think of are:
I've just checked these out...

Quote:1. Menus behave differently in FSE - if you have video or TV displayed inset, then selecting guide does not work - it just makes the video full-screen. You have to stop TV or video before it will work. This behaviour also seems to effect any menu page that does not have a small video inset - for example the weather plugin.
This is working fine here, but I cant remember if this was something I've had to fix post 1.0.16. (try any PVRX2.exe patches you've seen posted, and it might fix it for you, regardless of what the patch was offically for)

Quote:2. Resume from standby or hibernate does not work in FSE - the resume-fix patch worked for VMR-9 custom but not FSE.
I know this works fine in 1.0.16, because I hibernate my bedroom PC which uses PVRX2 -fse, and comes out of hibernation usable.

You may be missing this: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=4

EDIT: I see you're using 0.99.12. This was definitely broken back then.

Quote:3. Sometimes when you exit GBPVR the screen is not refreshed so you can't see the desktop.
(Actually I worked around this by setting the green power button on my remote to start GB-PVR. When it happens I just start gbpvr again and then exit, and I then get the desktop back. Now I am using reschanger with gbpvr it is not a problem anyway as the change of screen res also solves the problem)
I'm not sure if this still happens with 1.0.16. I know it used to happen for some users with older releases. It doesnt do it for me my Vista machines, but I did used to occassionally see it on my XP machines.

Quote:4. DVD menus do not work correctly - When the disk menu loads up you cannot see which option is highlighted. Pressing OK does play the DVD but you cannot select other options, unless you use trial and error guessing by using the arrow keys and OK button.
DVD menus + highlights are working here fine.

I'm having the same problem with my TV; I've connected it through S-VHS and still have the problem. I also tried component cables, but that was even worse, because my video card starts panning and scanning instead of scaling.

So I guess the problem is not in the composite cable or your TV.

Thank you sub.
Now I have achieved good playback and TV in 99.12 with FSE, I guess it's time to try the new PVRX2 -fse, especially as these issues seem to be resolved in the new version.
Mind you, I will make a HDD image first - just in case!

fse 10016 seems to be all good
only thing i cant coment on is the standby thing my machine is on 24/7
the only problem is at the moment 10016 in the last few days has stopped responding a few times but because of the im using fse i cant shut it down
i think its the driver for my video card actually doing it though.

It does happen on my W2K machine with 1.0.16 (nVidia graphics card). I'm also using the -fse switch, to avoid the vertical lines. Currently, I'm using the PureVideo decoder (version 196) and the ForceWare 84.21 display driver, because of other bugs in the newest drivers (it seems to get worse for GeForce6 cards with every new release Sad ).

I also have the problem of the screen not coming back to life after a suspend. I have tried the DelayedStart, but that gives me a popup saying:

"Sorry, the system does not support the requested VMR9 video renderer"

Before the suspend, everything was working fine.

stustunz Wrote:I want to know a few things

1.what version gbpvr are you using?
2.are you using pvrx2?
3.what nvidia card you use ?
4.what version driver are you using ?
5.what mpeg decoder do you use?
6.are you panning shots smooth ?

anything else that you might want to add or comment on

1. 0.99.12
2. no
3. Leadtek A6200TDH-128MB GeForce 6200 128MB 64-bit DDR AGP
4. latest as of aug 4 2007
5. PureVideo
6. No, stutters every second or so of a pan

Thoughts: I think I need to throw money at the problem. The AGP 6200 w/ 128MB/64-bit is not going to cut it after all. Thats what I get for getting a cheap card I suppose. A 6800XT w/ 256MB/128-bit will hopefull yield better results.

I don't want to stray from VMR9 Custom, as it gives me great quality (better than all others) outside of pans. My DVD's and videos also experience mild tearing occasionally. I don't want to use pvrx2 because, as i understand, the weather widget isn't yet supported, or wasn't when i tried in august. There's other widgets i'm not ready to give up yet either.

This app has changed my TV viewing forever. Many thanks to the devs and staff for all their hard work.
