I've actually already tried that one. VMR9 Custom yields better overall results than FSE.

As mentioned in my original post, I'm using 99.12 because of the plugin compatibility.

I've compromised and decided to use FSE instead of Custom. It degrades the image quality a little, but it gives me smooth pans.

1.what version gbpvr are you using?
2.are you using pvrx2?
3.what nvidia card you use ?
4.what version driver are you using ?
5.what mpeg decoder do you use?
6.are you panning shots smooth ?

anything else that you might want to add or comment on

1) 1.0.16
2) yes
3) GeForce4 MX 440-SE passive cooled to a toshiba 28" crt via s-video
4) 93.71
5) Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder - the ones that get installed with the software for my Nova-t 500
6) Yes...mostly...but they were terrible until i put the windows desktop resolution down to 800x600/16bit quality. Ive a feeling the 32bit quality actually had a bigger effect on panning than the resolution itself, but this definatly made an impact - like from almost unwatchable to acceptable to the point my wife doesnt notice. i do because im looking for it Big Grin im yet to try the -FSE switch to see if that gets me the perfect 'STB quality' picture.

Ive also found in the past - and this install too - that the audio decoder can impact the video stability as much as the video decoder. mines set to 'MPEG Audio Decoder' which is fine for my non-surround needs.

On my uncles PVR, setting the PAL resolution from within the registry helped a lot with these sorts of issues too. this was only good if the PVR was outputting TV-only though, if it was a dual-screen setup, the drivers would wake up and try to be clever and juggle the resolutions....this wasnt with an Nvidia card, and im hoping i wont have to try it on this setup, but could be a last resort for the final 1%....

anyway, thats my ha'pennys worth:o

Update: Since switching to -FSE, I only see slight camera jerks when the camera is panning on an image that is more than ~50% dark/black. Lighter images pan smoothly.

I answered this previously, but my card is different.

1.what version gbpvr are you using?

99.12
2.are you using pvrx2?

No
3.what nvidia card you use ?

Geforce2 MX400
4.what version driver are you using ?

93.71
5.what mpeg decoder do you use?

Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder
6.are you panning shots smooth ?

Mostly, I sometimes notice some very slight jerkyness but it is an on again off again kind of thing, even when viewing the same files over and over. My son (who is 3) likes to watch the same recorded cartoon over and over again off the TV attached to the video card and it happens sometimes but not other times. I do all my watching over the MVP, which is always smooth.
The jerkiness looks like the video card is dropping frames on pans. It is completely due to the hardware, I am not even sure a Geforce 2 is at the minimum spec. I originally thought I had a Geforce 4 MX 440, but after noticing the slight jerkiness one day I looked at the card and realized it was a Geforce 2!

I use VMR9 Custom, which I am surprised even works with this card.

1.what version gbpvr are you using?

latest
2.are you using pvrx2?

yes
3.what nvidia card you use ?

6200 pci
4.what version driver are you using ?

latest driver 163.71
5.what mpeg decoder do you use?

purevideo
6.are you panning shots smooth ?
yes & no.
It seems to be perfect on DVD's but not so perfect on recordings.
I think it's a de-interlace issue.

On a side note,
What is up with the latest drivers?
720x480 is now a custom resolution?
The control panel is more confusing than ever.

yes the control panel sucks you cant add the resolution as easy as you could with older versions
but you can turn off the direct 3d stuff more easy the second tab down
yes i have come to the conclusion that deinterlacing has alot to answer for our bad video playback
every program i record is different some have nice panning shots then the next will be crap
even between adverts you see it (i dont noirmally watch adds but when im testing its interesting)
