We'll just have to see if they do the same for Yahoo Go4TV but they may just let that project die. It'd be cool if they did.

Now that's just sad.... You worked really hard on this project.

Maybe I better get you in on the MCE GUI project, fellow vb6 programmer...

I gave up and switched to SchedulesDirect. Sucks to pay for the 9 local channels that I want, but this source is dead and I don't want to reinstall my PC server with XP MCE (it's XP Pro now).

After Zap2it shut down, I went over to yapi2xml and when it worked the very first time I was stoked. Wow, could it really be that easy, could it really pull down the epg without problem? Yes, it did...for one day, until 9/12 and no more updates. Oh, well. I gotta have a working epg, so I too made the switch to ScheduleDirect. Hopefully the price will drop to $20/year as proposed. Thanks for your hard work, while it lasted.

It sucks that Yahoo seems to have abandoned this, I have a small glimmer of hope that they are just re-tooling the back end. At any rate, I've looked at this:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=29465

Nice little Perl app/script for scraping the Zap2It guide pages (and a nice little bit of poetic justice there IMHO). It works great, not as great as this solution, but the listings are on par with what we had with the old Z2I service and I assume what is fed to Schedules Direct.

For ME, I have a *nix server in the house, so I can use the straight Perl instead of the Windows exe. Scrape once, point the PVRs at the xml file, wipe hands on pants.

I'm using Schedules Direct now, but I just tried yapi2xml today and it is working again.

Can someone else give it a try and see if it was just a fluke.

Looks like it may be back in business again.

It's downloading stuff and putting it into an XML file now (15 megs worth). Wasn't doing that before. But apparently GB-PVR doesn't like the format of the XML file. The TV listings aren't getting updated. It just says, "no show details." But of course, there's no error information coming from GB-PVR. Sad

Here's the log file from YAPI2XML:
Code:
----------------------------------------------
Version: 1.2.6 Starting: 04 Oct 07 15:08:27
15:08:28 - Current Provider Code: VA54903-
15:08:34 - 68 Channels Found for current lineup
15:08:38 - 68 channels - downloading schedule
15:08:59 - Schedule downloading, unzipping
15:09:00 - Schedule file: 20071004-VA54903.txt - generating channel xml
15:09:01 - Processing programs
15:09:34 - Process complete :-)

Check the GB-PVR logs. The error will be in there. Most likely you have duplicate channels.

I see stuff like this...
Code:
2007-10-04 16:21:49.625 VERBOSE [4] Listings loaded for: 8 WRIC
2007-10-04 16:21:49.625 VERBOSE [4] Gaps removed...
2007-10-04 16:21:49.625 VERBOSE [4] indexes created for: 8 WRIC
2007-10-04 16:21:49.625 VERBOSE [4] About to load listings for: 9 QVC

2007-10-04 16:21:49.750 VERBOSE [4] Listings loaded for: 9 QVC

Then stuff like this...
Code:
2007-10-04 16:22:06.453 VERBOSE [4] About to build epg indexes
2007-10-04 16:22:06.453 VERBOSE [4] BuildChannelProgrammeIndexHints for: 1 LOOR001(34)

2007-10-04 16:22:06.453 VERBOSE [4] BuildChannelProgrammeIndexHints for: 6 WTVR(64)

Then an interminable amount of stuff like this...
Code:

2007-10-04 16:22:55.921 VERBOSE [1] skipping background
2007-10-04 16:22:55.921 VERBOSE [1] skipping background
2007-10-04 16:22:55.921 VERBOSE [1] tv guide render [email=took@row]took@row[/email]: 0.0068359375
2007-10-04 16:22:55.921 VERBOSE [1] skipping background

No errors though. None that I can find, anyway.
