Inconsistent channel change in Scheduled Recordings

I have been using gbpvr for a couple of years and recently upgraded to 1.0.16. I am using HIP with the Haup PVR-150MCE. This had been working fine up until the upgrade. I am using pvrx2 and have not opened gbpvr. I did not directly upgrade to 1.0.16 but uninstalled the previous version, renamed the directories and installed the new version. I had some skins and plugins that were never quite right so wanted to start over from scratch. I also upgraded to the latest version of HIP. I have since fully uninstalled and reinstalled HIP with new configuration files.

Since the upgrade, I randomly schedule recordings and sometimes the channel will change properly and other times not. If I view LiveTV, I am able to watch all of the channels by punching in the numbers on the remote. If I view the TV Guide, I can select each of the channels and it will change it properly. I then schedule another recording on the channel that previously failed and it changes properly and records the correct show.

With previous versions, I could always see the channel change on the recorded files. With the new version, I do not always see the channel change on the recordings. This occurs on correctly and incorrectly recorded shows. Probably not related but thought I would point that out.

It seems pvrx2 always sends channel numbers to hip but the numbers are slow part of the time which causes the incorrect recordings. An example would be recording on 105. It will punch in 105 and other times I see 10 then a delay then a 5. Since I don’t have a channel 10, the STB changes to 9 then the 5 is sent so I end up on channel 5.

I have scheduled 4 or 5 shows the last couple of nights and a different channel has failed each night. I schedule another show the next morning on the same channel and it works fine.

Anyone have any suggestions?

First off, what is your recording source? Cable or satellite set-top box, or are you using the 150's embedded tuner?

I ran into problems like that using HipSend.exe to drive my satellite receiver via IR blaster. I ended up adding delay to GB-PVR's calls to HipSend, something like 800 milliseconds between each remote code:

e.g. in your recording source's .EXE Channel Change command line, accessible from the config app:

HipSend {CHANNEL} 800

Recording source is STB using S-Video.

I have not attempted a delay using the hipsend command. I will start there.

That would be satellite STB.

I was able to record 8 shows last night with no issues. Thanks for the tip on the delay setting.

Glad it helped! Those problems can be VERY frustrating, especially when you come back home to a disk full of shopping channels.

In my case, bad delays actually threw my Hauppauge MCE into a tantrum fixed only by a USB unplug-plug cycle.
