There is often "some stuff" in the BIOS for power management and what can bring the system back to life.
Also have a look in device manager for your remote device - there may well be a tab for "power management" and a tick box for "allow this device to bring the machine out of standby"

You can only wake your machine from standby with a remote. You cannot wake a machine with a remote when your computer is in hibernate mode.

What kind of remote are you using?
Im using a usb-uirt. There seems to be different methods of setting this up for different remotes.
Theres also an article that might be of use to you:

Using standby doesnt save as much power as hibernate but waking the computer is much much faster.

Using Hauppauge's software with Titan also works fine, but I rather use gbpvr.

I also am having a problem with my computer not waking for recordings.

Have you made sure that you dont have your computer set to sleep <5 minutes? Otherwise your computer could wake up and then go back to sleep before the recording has started.

I watch for the computer to wake up and it never does... This is only a problem in version 1.0.16, when I was using 1.0.8 it worked fine. I didn't change anything on the computer. I uninstalled 1.0.8 and then reinstalled version 1.0.16.
Before I try a fresh install of winxp and gbpvr 1.0.16 I want to make sure there isn't a bug in the new version.
Also, is it possible to use Service Direct with version 1.0.8?
Thanks!

Did you apply the patch in the survival guide thread?

Not the built in SchedulesDirect support. You'd need to switch to xmltv.
