I've managed to get the cable signal issue straightned out. Using the graph posted I was able to do a couple test records through GBPVR. However, the audio was so distored I could not understand it, and the video was just a blue screen.

I tried settings GBPR MPEG2 playback to my dscaler mpeg2 decoder as well as the cyberlink, but the result is the same.

Stange thing is though, if I try and play the same file in Media Player Classic, it plays fine. So I'm thinking it's a playback thing of some kind. If I try to play it with just Windows Media Player, it looks just like it does in GBPVR.

Anyways, I've attached my current settings, any help would be appreciated!

What does your lastgraph look like in the GBPVR folder - or for that matter take the file that was saved and open with graphedt and see what graph windows is making for it, play that. That will tell you what filters windows and GBPVR is actually using. If you can make that graph work then those are the Gbpvr settings you would want to use.

You could also get a sample MPEG file from elsewhere and see what happens in GPBVR and your other players that would help isolate is it your recording graph or something else.

I tend to agree that it is a playback issue based on what you've said but I am not sure how to fully diagnose it.

One thing you could try is looking at the elecard settings (right click on the filters and output pins) in your graph - perhaps the audio/video combination that it is spitting out is hard for your chosen decoders to figure out.

Well I think I narrowed it down to the elecard multiplexer. If I remove the elecard multiplexer from the graph, and run the audio and video encoders to their own gbpvr file, they both play fine with Media Player. One thing I noticed that the video gets encoded as mpeg2, but the audio is mpeg1. Not sure if that make a difference.

Hard to make sense of the multiplexer settings, but I added them in the file below in case anyone has any ideas.

Ok fixed the playback issue, it was as suspected, a configuration issue with the multiplexer. Now working on live TV.

CarpeVideo,

I have been trying to get graphedit to work the example you have for firewire capture. It wouldn't work as is so I started adding elements to see which one was the problem. I get a zero file size for a captured file. The problem seems to be with my mpeg-2 demultiplexer. When I add it in, the file size is zero. Do you know any way to troubleshoot this?

I can get the graph to capture a .ts file through the NVidia TS Info Parser (which is then connected to gbpvr writer as a .ts file). I can't play the .ts file in Windows MP or anything else. If I record using CapVHS, I also can't get it to play the .ts file. If I use VideoRedo to convert the file to .mpg it plays fine.

This might be beyond this thread but I wanted to try anyway.

Thanks,

Bigbus

It's more likely the multiplexer than the demuxer since the demuxer should just be a microsoft standard - see if the video renders from the demuxer. I use the ATI Avivo package muxer set to HD MPEG.

It also possible its that the currently tuned channel is encrypted although since you say that the recording the .ts file directly works it doesn't sound like it would be the case.

Finally you could try the sage forums - they may have more graphs since this is the only one I use unless I see some obvious difference I won't be able to be off much help.

Thanks,

I got it working to .ts and then I use VideoRedo to convert to .mpg. That is working pretty well and is fairly quick. I got it to work with all channels including HBO HD. I got the preview to work with a renderer. This is a nice plugin.

I want to mess with other older cards at some point to ge them working. I will check the sage forum.

Got it to work recording mpg. I am using the Elecard Push Demux and the Cyberlink MPEG Muxer (for some reason it wasn't visible in Graph Edit until I reinstalled it).

Thanks for the plugin and help.

Hi CV

A fellow in post #5 of this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=27616 mentioned Graphrecorder might work for MPEG4 devices.

Can you or anyone confirm this: I'm looking for devices and methods that will record SD files natively to MPEG4 (much smaller than MPEG2) without losing GBPVR functionality. Any chance of that with Graphrecorder ?

If you can make a graph that does it it should work... but there are a few possible issues.

Unless you have a hardware MPEG 4 encoder or you have a powerful computer I am unsure of the ability to do the encoding real time since a huge buffer would be needed and I don't know if the filters would handle that. Most people record to MPG and then transcode.

Second recording TV as timeshifted and viewing "live" could have a second issue since its not MPEG but I am not sure here.
