It will display and play video and audio digital channels with no problem, but it will not record them. When I go to the folder that the recording should be in, I have 2 files, each of which are about 50kb and non-supported formats. I've changed the config.xml file to
BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>true

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I should also add, that I have 2 tuners in my HTPC. One is a PVR150 and the other is the HVR1600. Now, when I'm recording QAM I can't watch live TV either. It says that there are no tuners available and if I choose to watch the program that I'm currently recording, I get a black screen for 10 seconds or so, then it goes back to the GBPVR Main Menu.

Make sure that the channels you want are marked as available in the tuner configuration tab.

For instance if you want to record channel 158 (digital) it sounds like your hvr1600 has that available cause you recording from it. If at the same time your wanting to watch say channel 4, then make sure that your other tuner has that channel marked as available. I say this because it sounds like when you ask GBPVR to watch (for example channel 4) there are no tuners available to show that channel.

OK Smoker. I'll check that out. Does anyone have any idea why the HD QAM channels won't record?

Well, I seem to have figured it out...somehow :p

When I ran muxchecker it came up that there were no Mux's installed, which I thought was strange as the Microsoft DVR mux should come standard with XP SP2, right? Perhaps muxchecker doesn't search for that mux as it is standard with the install?

Anyways, I downloaded the CyberLink mux and am using that rather than the DVR mux and it's working like a charm. My recordings are very clear and stutter-free on my client PC's. Now all I have to do is get the HTPC to be able to play back the HD content without stuttering. For some reason when I watch live HD content the video lags out pretty regularly. I'm betting it's a decoder problem, but I'll start a new thread about it.

I have a Haupaugge HVR 1600 and had succesfully recorded HD programming before on antenna. I thought that when QAM came along I would find it easier. It appears that I am recording but when I try to play it back it tells me it is unsupported. G-Spot gives me error message rendering failed Following error reported by DirectShow 080040265 {unknown}. I am using a TS Mux because that had previously worked for HD playback with antenna recordings and playback through my D-Link Media lounge.

I'm also unable to record anything with my new 1600. I pulled out my 150 and connected to the digital line on the 1600, but I can't record. I have a similar problem where the mpg file it outputs is not recognized by Windows media player, and I've found that the file that it outputs is 0kb?!

I've played with some different mux's and have found in my logs that they are being found, so I'm at a loss.

Quote:I've changed the config.xml file to BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>true

What's this about? I've read in several places on the forum that some have altered various lines in regards to similar BDA problems and the like, but I never see why they are being altered or in some cases which files are being altered. Is there a file that I need to alter in order to get digital recordings?

If you need to see my logs, which ones specifically should I post?

Thanks so much!

Do a recording then zip and attach every log that has "GBPVRRecordingService" as part of the name and I'll have a look.

I see you're trying to use the Cyberlink mux, which is known to often have problems with ATSC. If you're on XP SP1 or higher, give the Microsoft DVR-MS mux a go to see if it performs better.
