I'm running GBPVR 1.0.16 with two ATI 550 tuners. GBPVR correctly recognizes both tuners, but they are swapped. For example, I record channels 2 and 3. When I play back the file titled channel 2, it contains the recording for channel 3, and playing the file titled channel 3 contains channel 2.

Also, I can record channel 2 and watch live tv (changing channels 10-20). The channel viewed on live tv remains on channel 2, while the recording will contain a viewing of channels changing from 10-20.

I tried swapping the capture device board numbers to no avail.

As for past unsupported issues with dual 550, tuners, please note the following:

1) I set <AutoDetectEncoderMethod>0</AutoDetectEncoderMethod>. It only recognized one tuner when set to 2. When set to 1, this swapped tuner problem still exists.

2) I know that in the past people have had problems with dual 550 tuners, but after much research, I believe most of those problems had to do with ATI's drivers and have been resolved. Specifically, people had problems getting sound from both tuners. My drivers are up to date, and I have no sound problems. Since both tuners work properly, I believe this is a GBPVR issue, not an ATI one.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Logs attached.

I'm guessing if you look at the channel numbers in the capture source channel list, you'll find they're not correct.

What EPG source are you using?

No, the channel numbers are perfect. (Using schedules direct). The problem is not with the channel numbers, but in viewing the wrong tuner. Let me try to explain again.

Let's say I program a recording for channel 2. At the same time, I channel surf channels 5,6,7. When I watch live tv, all I can see is channel 2. The EPG shows me changing channels (program info shows for channels 5,6,7) but I'm locked to watching channel 2. Then, I go back to watch my recording (which was programmed to record channel 2) I instead see the channels that I have attempted to watch live (5,6,7).

In another scenario, when recording two channels, the EPG data is swapped such that tuner A always contains EPG data for tuner B, while the recording for tuner B always contains EPG data for tuner A.

Reproduce the problem with single recording, then zip and attach the logs along with a description of what you tried to do and what really happened.

1) Went to the TV guide, selected the current show on channel 6, and pressed record.
2) Went to Live TV. I pressed channel UP about 4 times. I was stuck watching only channel 6, although the EPG changed appropriately (showed info for channels 7,8,9,10).
3) Stopped the recording, exited GBPVR, zipped and attached logs
4) Went back into GBPVR and verified that the recording contained not channel 6 but the channels being changed to 7,8,9,10.

Sorry, I dont know. I cant see anything obvious in the logs. I'm assuming you've definitely got the capture sources set to device #1 and device #2 respectively.

I'm going to assume its another problem relating to using multiple ATI 550 devices in the one machine.

I have a clearer way of describing the problem. When recording, GBPVR sets the channel on tuner A but actually records from tuner B. When watching tv, GBPVR changes channels on tuner B but lets you only view tuner A.

I do have the capture sources set to device #1 and device #2.

Sub, is there any way you can check to see how the two tuners are referenced by GBPVR? Before I sink money into another tuner, any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

As far as I can tell in the logs for the scenario provided in the logs above it seems that live tv was trying to access device #2 and the recording was trying to access device #1. GB-PVR just treats all analog capture devices the same way, and this works just fine with devices like the PVR150 etc.

Have you seen both the devices working concurrently but independently controllable with some other app? That at least help you rule out driver issues.

Great question, stustunz. I deleted one tuner in the GBPVR config. With AutoDetectEncoderMethod=2, the correct channel is recorded. With AutoDetectEncoderMethod=0, the wrong channel is recorded. GBPVR still sets one tuner and records the other. I believe AutoDetectEncoderMethod is at the heart of this problem.

Of course, setting AutoDetectEncoderMethod=2 isn't a fix since this only allows the use of one tuner.
