wildcard recordings

I'd like to record all episodes of American Chopper, but our cable company changes the title per each episode (e.g. American Chopper Dixie bike, American Chopper race bike, etc). Each title contains "American Chopper" so this could be used as a filter to record all episodes.
Would it be possible to add a wildcard function for recurring recordings so some part of the text can be fixed and another part wildcarded?
E.g. by selecting the fixed text using the remote and placing it between brackets, e.g. "[American Chopper] dixie bike".

I'm fairly sure someone provided a utility that would do this, allowing you specify these types of things in a config file. The name of the utility escapes me at the moment though.

The Recording Service also already supports wild card matches, but there is no way in the user interface to define one of these. Currently to make use of this you'd need to edit the entry in database. Yuck...

I wrote a utility a long time ago that can match / correct this type of thing in the XMLTV incoming data....

It's called "EPGFilter" and can be found in the forums (it uses regular expression-based search & replace against an XMLTV file).

Could this be a feature request sub, or is the coding to add it to the interface very difficult?? cos as you know our epg is not always that reliable when it comes to names...

Maybe something on the recordings set up screen??

Maybe. I dont like to complicate the interface too much, which is why I havnt done it until now.

This specific problem hasnt had much affect on me in the past. I think I remember one recording that didnt happen that would have been solved by this, but given its only one recording, there is next to no chance I would have gone in before hand to modify it to be a wildcard search for part of it's name.

Yep CDK Scheduler does this... XRecord->Schedule->Match by partial title.
