Sub,

I installed V1.0.16 in early September but my problems only started on 1st October. Last MS patches installed Mid September were Defender update and Daylight Saving change.

Nothing else has changed since.

Would love to move to PVRX2.exe but my server runs without monitor/keyboard and I always admin though RDP. If I enable VRM9 in config, it says it's not supported. Sad

I have to log onto the server and start mvp servers manually as if I set to autostart, my network shares for photos/music etc don't get connected

Tipstir,
The server and MVPs ARE connected directly to a switch.....the router is on the internet connection.

You can use VNC to remote connect with VMR9. Microsoft's newer RDP in Vista also supports VMR9, though I know this doesnt really help you on XP.

You can also use PVRX2 for the MVP servers, without the need for VMR9. It should only be a problem if you tried to launch PVRX2 on the desktop via your existing RDP install.

Bobins,

What are you using to give the IP address to your MVP and the other devices on your switched subnet? I see that your host has one of the "special" Microsoft IP's 169.254.0.4, and it would likely be better to give it a real static ip.

In diagnosing the problem it doesn't look like psycik's. Only the media server stalls (maybe E: is a share and the share was busy?) and then when you hit stop after some OSD updates there is a collision and the mvp disconnects.

There are a number of different ways to work around this, but the easiest is to just set the GBPVR Recording Service to run under your account instead of System. Then the recording service and MVP server(s) will see the same network shares that you do.
P4 3.0 Ghz (hyperthreaded), 1024 MB DDR
XP Pro SP2
20 GB system drive
2x 250 GB data drives, RAID 0
Hauppauge PVR-350
Hauppauge PVR-150MCE
Hauppauge PVR-500
3x Hauppauge MediaMVP

Mvallevand:
My ADSL router/firewall is used for DHCP. My servers are all static IP addresses between 169.254.0.0 & 169.254.0.10. DHCP addresses are used for the MVPs between 169.254.0.11 & 169.254.0.100.

The recordings directory is a local drive on the XP server and whilst shared, nothing else is accessing the drive at the same time. In the past I've had recordings playing on all three of my MVPs with no problem and the server doesn't break sweat.

Core Network switch is 1Gb (obviously MVPs latch at 10mb).

Sub:
I assume when you say use PVRX2 for the MVP Servers, you mean starting it via the autostart in config?

AOSandman:
Yep I've tried that before but it didn't seem to work and I wanted to use the MVP tray icon which didn't show up when I autostarted servers Sad (Lets me know who's watching what before I fiddle with things and get grief from my better half)

Sorry I can't add too much more, sub's suggestion to upgrade to pvrx2 for the mvp is definitely the first thing I'd try. As far as connecting to the switch the mvp eventually connects 100 half duplex with the Hauppauge dongle and 100 full duplex with mvpmc.

OK guys, decided to try the PVRx2.exe option.
Set servers to 1 and restarted. MVP now just sits there contacting servers. tried starting gbpvr.exe manually, MVP connects. Stop gbpvr.exe and MVP goes back to contacting servers.

checked pvrx2 is running.....yes it is. tried re-booting everything....still the same.

Firewall I hear you cry....nope, firewall is off (and i checked)

any ideas?

haven't touched config.xml so wouldn't think that could be it

MVP-pvrx2.exe.log looks ok...can't see any errors.
