I'm intrigued by the HDhomerun. Never really looked into it, but I see it uses ethernet to connect to the PVR which would be ideal in my new home since I was dreading running another span of RG6 from the antenna in the attic to the PVR. I hadn't really planned on using the new HD card for receiving analog broadcast since I already have one PVR150 for that and the other is dedicated to the Dish STB, but it was more of a bonus. Since there are a fair number of OTA DTV signals, I planned on using the new tuner for this exclusively.

Channel changes would be thru the software correct? so in the HDHR product description, what does this mean then?

Another option if you don't need analog would be to buy a usb HD tuner, I have a AverMedia USB Volar hd tuner that is super sensitive, it receives the channels at a higher percentage than the m780 does ( 75% vs 90% )
I don't own a HDHomerun, looked at it wanted to buy it but its to much for me to spend at the moment, but if i understand what your asking about at the end of your comment about the channel changes.
The channel changes are done through the network
The AverMedia Volar is 69.99 at newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6815100018

I'm so envious. I just can't validate it yet... let us know how the setup go.

Yes, I will be interested in this also. I never knew it connected through Ethernet. I figured it would be USB 2.0. I saw threads where people had trouble settting it up and documention was behind, etc.

Well, it left Houston TX and made it's way over to Louisville KY, and is on it's way back west to CO... the shipping routes are pretty odd. Should be here Tuesday night.

Louisville is a main hub for UPS. All midwest packages run through here.

I still love my Plextor PX-TV402U, I know there are some folks who have problems getting it to work, but once you work out the kinks, and compare it's limitations vs it's capabilities, it's a no-brainer. Not interested in going HD until they make a device that will do what I want, not settling for what's out there now. Second on my list is the Hauppauge PVR-USB2, it was really my first card, but I like the plextor's divx ability, and I still think the quality is pretty good in comparison. Oh, and I am using 1.0.16 with the plextor, every upgrade has gone without a hitch, still use the hauppauge, but it's only connected to the vcr for conversion, makes playing my daughters videos easier after I digitize them.

I've owned three different QAM based tuners, two from Dvico one a PCI fusion 5 gold the other a USB 5 gold and an OnAir GT usb. Dvico does have a decent pic when it does work but they only work occasionally alot of work goes into keeping them running. The OnAirGT has identical PQ to Dvico but I've only had to install it once one any machine it's been connected to and it's run as advertised unlike Dvico. I need a PCI-e tuner and was interested in the HVR-1800 though I am not a big fan of their software and PQ isnt as good as others I've used for analog. I'd be interested to know if you get it to work with your software Sub, if you do and it's fairly painless to setup then I'd probably buy one but that WinTV software uses combo keys for the simplest tasks and the GUI looks 10 years old and was never user friendly so GB would be a monster of an improvement. I'll check back but if I were going to choose from your list it'd be the 1800.

I received the HDHomeRun and got it setup. I'm currently using Tuner 0 for my office PC with GBPVR and have Tuner 1 setup on my dedicated PVR out in the living room. Even the basic SD picture quality from the HDHomeRun is fantastic compared to the s-video fed PVR150.... which just really looks like crap in comparison. Watched a few shows in HD and wow Big Grin

It's too bad my area is so far behind in OTA broadcast. I have three digital channels right now and hopefully in spring 2008 a few more will start broadcasting in full power. The cable company is still analog to, so QAM isn't an option. I just wanted to get my foot in the door with a digital tuner and I gotta say, I'm lovin' it.
