99% CPU usage on recording service

The GBPVR recording service has pegged the CPU usage at 99% so I've had to disable it for the time being. I can't blame GBPVR, it must have been me altering the default services settings in XP. I basically set things up the way theeldergeek.com suggests the services be set. Anyone care to wager a guess as to what could cause this CPU over usage ?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.
