Another great plug-in Jwiz,

Quick feature request - how about a hot key (ctrl-Y? - the yellow hauppage button) to scroll through genres/categories on the PVXR screen without popping back up to the category list via the remote.

It might also be cool to have something on the content screen that says - apply genre settings to all with similar titles (so for example you could quickly set all recordings of the show Torchwood to television and sci-fi)

I created a directory structure (VideoMain) with some text files pretending to be .mpgs or .MPGs in the root dir of my c disk (see attached zip)
In Add Content I pointed Location at VideoMain and then clicked Locate New Content - 1 file - result in SS1.jpg

I added .MPG to the Target Extensions and clicked Locate New Content - 2 files - result in SS2.jpg

I removed .MPG from Target Extensions, checked SubDirs and clicked Locate New Content - 3 files - result in SS3.jpg

I added .MPG to the Target Extensions, left SubDirs checked and clicked Locate New Content - 6 files - result in SS4.jpg
I then Loaded the new content - 6 were found, 2 were duplicates, 4 were added - I peeked into the DB and 4 had been added.
Of course, this might just mean that it's time for me to dig out the XP install disk...

Alex
Ok, thanks for the detailed debugging. I'll take a look and fix the problem.

Ok, ctrl-Y (or yellow button) will now scroll thru the categories (next version).

I am thinking of another tab in the config program to do something similar to what you are suggesting for the genre/category settings. Look for something in a future release...

installed and working, but got some ideas for improvements, probably mentioned before

previously under media-portal i used ant music catalog for cataloging all my films, as some are on dvd's, and in different locations. Could your plugin be modified to link into the amc or xml list that ant creates.

if not how about it reading the data in, and putting into it's own database

i prefer to keep the movies for my kid seperate to the rest of the films, and have any not in her age-group to be password protected so she can't access them, but can access her own

when selecting a film on dvd, it checks the dvd and if incorrect one is inserted it advises to insert the correct disk

cheers

The sort order within a category is now alphabetical. What will it be like if it is in another language other than English? Is there a way to have a user defined sort order? say if I would like to play certain movie clips in the order of the ascending timestamp order of the movie clips being added into a category? Or possibility of adding a user defined sequence number field?

new version posted on wiki

10/30/2007 : 1.0.9.0
 • In plugin, disable External Player button if running on MVP.
 • Fixed bug in config where when generating thumbnails, if the settings go past the end of the movie stop creating thumbnails. This was causing an exception.
 • Added the ability to NOT save images in the db. This will dramatically cut down on the size of the db. At runtime, these images will be retrieved from the disk or URL they were originally found at. The only images that MUST be saved in db are the generated thumbnails.
 • Added ability to ‘zoom’ image. Thumbnail image on main screen now can accept focus, ENTER will trigger popup of enlarged image.
 • Fixed bug in plugin when deleting title that was missing in db. Thumbnail and info left displayed was for different entry.
 • Added stand-alone GUI (MovieWizManager.exe) to run the Movie Wiz Manager outside of GBPVR. Must be run from the plugins/MovieWiz directory.
 • Added IMDB AKA lookup. Useful for foreign titles.
 • Ctrl-Y or Yellow button on remote will now scroll thru the categories list in the plugin
 • Fixed bug in config pgm where duplicate entries would show up in the load items list (thanks to ACTCMS for help debugging).

I'll add this to the TODO list, look for it in a future version....

I have never used ant movie catalog. Could you provide me with a link to some information and possibly a sample .amc file? I probably won't enable the program to work directly with .amc, but I may provide some sort of import function if it makes sense.

Is the password on the movie level, or the category level?

I don't play the files right off the DVDs, so I'm not sure how I would tell if the correct DVD is inserted.
