I am trying to run GBPVR using Avermedia 1500. I have selected the Avermedia 150 profile, but I can not get external tuner to work via the S-video input. The recorder does not start at all. The internal tuner can be used for recording, but live TV produces the following error:
Object Reference not set to an instance of an Object.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Jim

Is this a general statement because you have done no work to support the 1500, or do you know of something specifically different between the 150 and the 1500 that makes the 1500 incompatible with GB-PVR?

I ask because I have been led to believe that the 150 and the 1500 are the exact same Conexant based hardware, with the only difference being that the 150 is the OEM version and the 1500 the retail version. Based on that my first guess would be that if the 150 works, the 1500 could be made to work also, but there could be differences I am not aware of.

I say this because I know at least some work would be required to get this card to work with GB-PVR. I dont have one of these device so wont be doing this.

You're right that these devices are probably very similiar, so it may not be a significant amount of work, but unfortunately its not something I can help you with. Sorry.

Okay. Thank you for the quick reply. And thank you for making your hard work available to everyone. It looks like a very nice system. Now all I need to do is get a tuner card it can work with.

So, you don't support cards that you don't own?

Way a great way to promote your software. Hilarious.

To support a new card (i.e. get it working correctly) Sub has to actually have the card to work on.

So either he can spend his own money to buy the card or someone can loan him one to work with (i.e. post it to New Zealand). This assumes that this is something that he actually wants to do, given the limited number of hours in the day and all the other improvements that he makes to the product.

In the perfect world, people would discover gbpvr before they actually bought their card and would then buy one of the recommend and fully supported models.

Unfortunately, what tends to happen is that people think "hey, I must get a tv card for my pc" only to find that the supplied software is pants, start searching around trying to find some better software and. If they are lucky, they discover gbpvr, the best pvr software available, that also just happens to be FREE.

Bad if it doesn;t work with your card but there you go...

I finally got my capture card working. I did a full reinstall of version 0.96.12 and updated the drivers. The Avermedia M150 driver works fine now. In addition I replaced the MceIr.dll with version 0.17distributed by Bruno FLEURETTE and got MCEBlaster to work as well.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah..he is a real jerk isn't he to develop this completely great PVR package all on his own free time seeing little return money wise for it and not make it compatible with every Tom, Dick and Harry's hardware on teh market. The nerve of Sub huh? *roll*

Actually, I think he's already using the best method possible to promote his software. It's a four letter F word. I'm sure you've heard of it.

F-R-E-E.

Hilarious...
