A nice review by a reliable site. HD and standard definition capture cards.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think we'll ever see a card that can capture and encode a HD signal from component inputs...

(something that would be needed to get HD from an STB for satellite subscribers to HDTV broadcasts) Sad

but perhaps we will see a capture card with DVI or HDMI inputs?

I suspect we'll eventually see component high def capture, but no DVI/HDMI capture, since it has some sticky legal issues.

Component hi-def would take some powerhouse of an onboard encoder! But I hope you're right sub Smile

and yeah, I guess HDCP and all that mess spoils the fun for HDMI capture.
