1.what version gbpvr are you using? - 1.16
2.are you using pvrx2? - yes
3.what nvidia card you use ? - GE Force 4000Mx
4.what version driver are you using ? Latest 11/06
5.what mpeg decoder do you use? - Hauppauge non-DSS
6.are you panning shots smooth ? - okay

My machine is a bit on the pokey side so I am always tinkering with trying to keep it running okay. I use this machine exclusively for backup files and for GBPVR. It runs an Athlon processor at 1.1ghz and has 384mb of RAM on Windows XP.

My big issue at the moment is the tremendous inconsistency between channels. My recordings on TNT, TBS for example are great but USA is awful. The same is true for live tv. Any suggestions out there?

My other issue is live tv is a bit shaky - I attribute it to my PC. The playback is much better on VLC.

I rarely have high CPU issues. Only when I am tinkering around and comskip is executing. Most recordings run about 20-50% utilization.

changed back to old drivers and set all setting in the advanced part of video setting to off apart from always use vertical sync and now its pretty good

Here' my config

1.what version gbpvr are you using? 1.0.16
2.are you using pvrx2? Yes
3.what nvidia card you use ? MX440 128Mb Air cooled.
4.what version driver are you using ? 93.12 Forceware Drivers & config Program
5.what mpeg decoder do you use? NVidia Pure Patinum
6.are you panning shots smooth ? Nope Rubbish.

I'm having no end of problems with Video, my latest interesting two issues (after upgrading the forceware) is the picture goes into green block mode after a period of time, and playback is fine until I FF or RF then it 'shakes'...

I'm looking at a new Flatscreen 37" so I'm going to try on the onbard intel graphics card when that arrives and throw out the Mx440.

when I originally tried PVRX2 the screen should shake so bad it was useless. I also tried a ATI 9660Pro which made no different, so I eventally tried updating the forceware drivers on the MX440 and I can 'at least' use PVRX2.

In 99.12 I was also most....... I've got back with PVRx2.
By the way I'm use FSE....

This sounds like th quartz.dll bug. There seems to be two solutions nowadays: downgrade quartz.dll, or apply a microsoft hotfix. Both the solutions are on here somewhere (the first is found in the thread "Disappointing mpeg decoding" thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=5600

I finally got this working. Don't know exactly what made it work, though. Using PureVideo decoder, the 93.71 driver version for my graphics card. I had to do quite a bit of tinkering with the graphics card settings, and suddenly it worked. I could swear I have tried the exact same combination of settings before without getting it to work, but...

I am using the -fse swith for pvrx2. I am only getting it to work over DVI, not over VGA (i bet that is related to one or the other being secondary monitor), and only in 720p/60Hz mode. It will possibly work in other modes, but right now I'm too scared to try any more. Heck, I am even reluctant to restart the computer Smile

What I'm a bit surprised over is that when I start pvrx2 *with* the -fse switch, it starts automatically on my DVI output, and when I start it *without* the -fse switch, it starts on my VGA output.

Just for the heck of it, I loaded up the new ForceWare drivers (163.75)... and the video quality was terrible. Pictures were very soft and fuzzy no matter what I did. Dropping back to what I had been using for several months (94.24) and everything is very very nice, smooth, and crisp.

using a 7600GT by the way.

as for decoders... Purevideo, DScaler, and Cyberlink all look great on my 42" plasma, but DScaler and Purevideo have issues with rewinding/fast forwarding where the video stops for about 5 seconds before doing anything... no such problem with Cyberlink.. although all three make the picture stop for about 3 seconds when changing channels.. but it's ALWAYS been like that ever since I started using GBPVR.. lol.. so I'm used to that problem.

just loaded the new one like you and find it a bit more jumpy
menus seems sharper and picture not to bad
i guess every set up is different
what do you have your 3d settings set to?
i turn all mine off apart from force wait for vertical sync

you try turning them off and watch how much sharper the picture looks
and have a look at the panning shots without them
watch all the funny lines that you see with them on disappear
maybe its just my card but i cant see how any off the game technology would ever work with an mpeg (just my opinion)

the 3d settings are all there to make the edges of the pictures less stepped and mpeg is already a photo of reasonable quality(higher resolution than most tvs) whats the point in trying to make the egdes any better
the transistions between pictures is taken care of by the wait for vertical sync (locked the frequency to the desktop refresh rate)so for pal that would be multiples of 25 and for ntsc it would be 30

so thats the reasons to my madness
all i want is smooth panning shots digital media SUCKS for this

Just to make sure I understand you correctly. The funny lines you are referring to... for a while I experienced something that I can only best describe as follows:

When panning, there was a sharp line across the screen. The line was placed seemingly at random height. Everything above the line was placed just a tad further to the right than everything below the line. Or further to the left, can't remember which. Maybe it was dependent on which way the image was panning. The line was not there all the time in all pannings.

I haven't analyzed it enough, but maybe the line was also moving upwards or downwards during the panning. I could only see the exact effect when I used the freeze function on my tv. Before I tried that I only had a feeling something was really acting up, and I couldn't put my finger on it. After I downgraded the nvidia drivers, I haven't been able to duplicate this behavior.

Is that what you mean by "funny lines"?
