I seem to get the impression that GB-PVR can only handle two tuners right now. Is this true? If so, how likely is it that a future version can handle more? As many as 4 tuners?

This is not a question of GB-PVR, this is a question about your configuration.
Have a look to: http://www.pvrstat.de A list with running multituner PVRs you can find at: http://www.pvrstat.de/4903.html

I have a '350 and a '500. So in total 3 tuners, and things work great...
[except for the IR remote control, but that's a different story]

In theory it'll accept a maximum of 6 tuners in its current configuration. I dont have 6 tuners, so I've never tried this.

Cool. 6 tuners would be more than enough. I was thinking 4 would be about perfect for me. I will likely need to control dish network or directv in the future. To do this, should I avoid cards like the 150MCE that do not have an IR emitter or can I use the MCe cards and control the satellite receivers another way?

Is six still the max?

Tuners vs Sources - I'm sure I had seven sources at one point - one device, pvr150 listed as four sources, RF, fixed channel RF, Composite 1 and 2.
If connection to server is lost the the client shows 8 blank sources.

That's not what I mean. If I have basic cable and use RF for analog recording and I want to record shows all on at the same time I need multiple tuners. I was wondering if 6 tuners was still the max. For example, if I have 5 pci slots and install 5 pvr500 - could I use all ten tuners?

There is no limit on the number of tuners. The tray application will only show the status of the first eight capture sources, but the others not shown will still function fine. You'd possibly be having I/O problems by then though.
