I've tried about 5 or 6 tools, MPG2CUT2, MPG2CUT, MPEG_Streamclip, VideoLAN, WMP, to just try and see the frame numbers but all I get is TIME????

Is there a freebie Tool to just SEE which FRAME you're in for Comskip Tweaking???

I know I can use Skiptool and comskipgui, but I'd like perfect cuts and comskipgui is tough going.
Videoredo will do the job, I know, but its $50. All I wish to do is see frame numbers about 4 times a year.

ffdshow can do it also..
just turn it on for 'raw' type and setup what you want it to display..
should work in any program that uses dx for display...

be sure to grab VirtualDubMod, great software.. and it will natively open up MPEG-2 files (unlike VirtualDub itself)
