Hi;

I have a couple recurrent issues with the scheduler.

1) entries in the future, in the TV Guide, showing properly as "red". If I try to cancel them, sometime they do seem to be canceled, but the red mark doesn't go out unless I quit the guide and then re-enter it.

2) looking at the "pending' recordings, I noticed that I had several entries that were 2 days past, but still showing as pending, didn't seem to record. I can't delete these from the pending list, selecting delete does not produce the "confirm" box, just pops back to the PVRX2 mail menu. Similarly for "updating" the recordings, I tried updating the quality and saving, then canceling, or updating then just canceling. The change in quality seems to stick. Oh and when navigation the pending list with bad items, sometimes one is skipped if I'm navigating up and down, and if I leave the selection on the 3rd or 4th down, after a few seconds it pops to the top without my pressing anything (I have hauled the remote keyboard out of range just to test).

I can delete the bad entries from the EWA, they show up as failed there. Once they are gone, all works normally- until the next time one shows up (2nd time for this in 3 days).

Start/stop gbpvr and recording service, no change. Reboot the computer, the ones that "failed" to be removed are now gone, but deleting a pending recording again does not remove it from the pending list.

It's not 100% failure to delete pending recordings, sometimes, after a reboot, I can delete a few items then one gets messed up per above.

1.1.5, no patches added as none of the posted ones seemed to apply to me yet. I did patch the previous version with the patch for popup dialog errors, and I did go back and delete and recreate most of my recurring programs; but the issues above aren't all recurring; could be I have one left from 1.0.16 era. I guess I'll delete all recurrers and recreate just in case that has something to do with it.

I did add SearchWiz2 recently, but none of the recordings having problems were created with SearchWiz. I can delete the problem ones via EWA, which seems to be the best temporary fix.

I've zipped a log and will upload it momentarily once I VNC into the server. I did zip up the whole /gbpvr that matches the log if you want me to pull other files.

Sorry if this is too much info--

What does the logs show? What problem did you reproduce just prior to zipping up the files?

It's not totally "clean" as the PVR had been running for a bit, but looks like the startup info is stil in the log.

I'd had first the red box issue occur, exited guide, return to guide, red boxes now clear.

Then went to pending and had the old items (2 days old) showing as still pending, original (old) date intact etc. They would not delete, cursor jumping. I tried a few times, tried a couple entries. I then tried to update the quality of the recording (so the entry would be rewritten) and then delete it, no go on the delete, I forgot to check if the quality updated but that part did update last time this happened.

At that point I stopped gbpvr, zipped the log.

It could very well be that once this started, nothing recorded properly, either, Nov 28-present. 4 or 5 failed recordings per EWA. And the last time this happened, that occurred also. took a CPU reboot not just a start/stop of PVR/Recording service to fix it.

other things, I need to check where I am with the .net 3, I was going to do it but do not recall if I installed the download.

Do you know if the recording service was running? It would normally change any old pending recordings to 'Failed'. If that didnt happen it makes me think the recording service wasnt running... which would also explain why you'd got failed recordings.

It sure should have been.... I didn't check today but when this first happened I started/ stopped things a lot with no fix except reboot. Plus exiting gbpvr then rerunning it should start the recording service if it wasn't running, or it used to.

Can I query the recording service from the command line and get a response out of it so that I know it's awake, and not just listed in the task manager, next time this happens?

edit: the EWA called them failed even though pvrx2 didn't.... do they make that decision independently/ via different mechanism?
edit2: .net 2 still. I put IE to 7 but didn't do the .net yet (a quest to get Netflix streaming to authenticate properly to the license server).

The recording service is started when you hit the 'ok' button in the config app if that is what you're thinking of? Starting the user interface doesnt do this.

You are used to interpreting user submissions Smile right. Via config or via program menu item start/stop of the service.

There is no reason the recording interface should not have been running that I know of. I'll keep an eye on that. Best way to tell it it is sitting there but hung is?

Probably the only way to tell is if the recordings arent happening. Its never been a problem in the past, so never required anything better than this.

Ok, I'll keep an eye on it. I still don't quite understand why EWA would see them as failed/ be able to delete them though even though the GUI did not.

I whacked all the recurring entries etc. and rebuilt them all, too, just inc ase there was something going on with those, IIRC you said you weren't sure what would be going on with those that were created before that patch on the last version.

Thanks!
