HDHomeRun Channel Scan

I am trying to setup my HDHomeRun on QAM.
Following the instructions, all goes well until I get to the channel scan. It isn't finding anything, but it is only scanning 1-68, that isn't where the digital channels should be anyway, if that relates to channel numbers.
What may I have done wrong that it isn't scanning 83-116 where all my channels are?

HDHomeRun Setup is finding all the channels and VLC is playing them. It seems to just be my GB DVR configuration

Did you set up an EPG source?
Did you modify your bda.ini file (in the GB-PVR folder) to include the HDHomeRun tuners as per the instructions?
Did you set your recording source as "BDA Recording Plugin" and choose the correct HDHomeRun tuner (of the two tuners)?

As for the channel numbers, they are remapped to the range of 1-68 since that is some sort of ATSC standard. GB-PVR will find the higher channels during its "Digital Channel Mapping" scan if the HDHomeRun scan found them, and remap them to this range.

Yep, I've done it so many times I have it pretty well memorized. Maybe I memorized something wrong and keep doing it . It is actually pretty straight forward, just doesn't say it found anything. I see it flickering to Quality and signal of 9x%, but no channel is reported found. The logs show it finding something as well.

What is the format GB PVR is expecting if I were to type in the channels manually?

The GB-PVR format doesn't make much sense to me, and only loosely correlates with what HDHR shows, so I can't help you there.

But make sure you have the "lineup.xml" file that HDHR produces in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Silicondust\HDHomeRun
I think that is what GB-PVR uses to remap the channels. If you don't have that, there is something wrong.

Also:
1. Are you using the latest version of GB-PVR? I don't know if it will find the lineup.xml file otherwise.
2. Are you using the latest HDHomeRun software and firmware? They changed their channel mapping a while ago.

1. Yes, I am using 1.1.5. I found the lineup.xml in the dir you said, but does GB-PVR reference it? Or need it somewhere else to reference it?

2. I just got the HDHomeRun last week and pulled the latest stuff from their site.

I have the HDHomeRun working with my BeyondTV setup. I have been running BeyondTV for many years with a centralized server and 3 client Beyond TV Link clients. But like what GB-PVR has evolved into, especially with BeyondTV having no support for CC.

It seems like GB-PVR should just need the Physical Channel, Major Channel and Minor Channel. But I don't know what format it is looking for in the single text field. The instructions seem straight forward enough that it just seems that something isn't working right on my PC. Perhaps I should try from another computer.

GB-PVR should find it automatically. But I am wondering if you have an EPG problem? I am using Schedules Direct with no problem setting it up. If you want to try setting the channels manually, here is how mine looks. The first one listed corresponds to CH55-4608 in the HDHR Channel Editor, which remaps to 6-80-5, etc. Lots of luck.

That is a little messy. I'll give it shot.
I am using schedules direct also, but I thin k the problem does reside in there somewhere. In the logs it looks like it is doing a lot of scans against -1, or uninitialized values. So I am guessing it is not picking up the right mappings. Is it the lineup.xml that it uses for this? Does it use it from the HDHomeRun dir or should it be moved?

You don't need to move anything. But a while ago someone on this forum suggested to hit the "Empty EPG" button as shown above to cure some problem, though I don't remember what it was. You could give it a try, and then do the Update EPG.

Also, be sure to have a video decoder set (in the Playback tab) that allows you to view the scanned video properly, or the channels will not retain their settings. I now use the CyberLink decoder, which comes with the PowerDVD software, but have also used the Hauppauge decoder that comes with the MediaMVP software. A lot of people use ffdshow also if you don't have those. And the EVR video renderer works well for me, though I think you need to download .NET 3.0 for that.

Also, did you install the Schedules Direct patch listed in the Survival Guide for 1.0.16? I don't know if it is still required for 1.1.5, but I don't think it will hurt.
