Sorry I haven't replied to this for a while - I've been busy with things.

I've done another full install, and still get the same problem. It's interesting to note that Devonian is only a few miles away from me - I'm on the Stockland Hill transmitter, and the two (Stockland and Caradon) might be linked in some way.

It's working!!!!

Here is what i did.
I started by switching off the PC and removing the PCI card. The only reason I did this was to make sure I was downling the correct drivers for the card. It is a Nova-T 90002. I replaced the card in the same slot (I didn't want to move it, because otherwise it's right next tot he graphics card which does sometimes get warm).

I downloaded the latest drivers for the card (and the latest version of Win TV) and followed their instructions - Run the download (not save it), run the HCWclear program to wipe all existance of the previous version, reboot, reinstall all new drivers, reboot, etc etc etc. I then ensured the card was and Win TV was properly tuned in.
Once happy that was working, I downloaded the latest GB-PVR, removed the previous with theadd/remove programs in Contraol Panel, went to the folder and removed the folder (Didn't make backups of the database - it wasn't working anyway).

Another reboot later (I once read somewhere it's wise to reboot after removing a program, to ensure it's all gone) and I installed GV-PVR.
Went to the config and made the correct selections (in my case it's BDA Plugin (Nova-T 90002); DVB EPG and No Channel Changer). I then did the map thing which did cause the PC to lock up. Frustrated I just left it and went off to do something else for half hour and when I returrned it had unlocked itself and found some channels. I tagged the ones I wanted and saved it. I chose NOT to update the EPG at this time, saved the entire config after sorting out my folders and other preferences and closed it. It restarted of course, and I opened PVRX2.

Of course no EPG info was there. I closed the window and right clicked on the sys tray, and selected Update EPG.

Once more I went off and left the computer alone for a while (it was an hour in my case, because I had things to do) and when i returned nothing had appeared to have happened, but when I went back to PVRX2 - there were all the programmes!

Happiness!

I've done a test recording while I went out shopping and it worked perfectly.

There we go. That's how I did mine. One quick question for Sub (if you're still reading): There used to be an option for recording quality which has now vanished. Is there a way of recording something in lesser quality?
I liked to record the NFL on Monday nights, and found by doing it on Low Grade I could just fit the file on my portable disk. Ok quality was poor, but at least I could watch it at work!

The quality setting was always ignored for digital recordings, so now it doesnt bother showing the option on digital only setups. The quality is set by the broadcaster when it is encoded prior to transmission.

This setting only makes a differences on analog devices where it has to encode the analog signal into a digital MPEG2 file.

After trying mediaportal with no luck at all - stuttering, black screens etc. - I returned to GBPVR. I cleared ALL DVB programs and drivers, reloaded just the hauppauge usb2 driver and GBPVR program plus the recommended additional files.

Using PVRX2.exe I re-tuned from scratch and downloaded EPG from air. All is now working fault free. By installing Hibernator, I'm also now getting reliable stand-by operation using sleep mode. It seems that GBPVR Recording Service accesses the disk regularly and stops windows sleeping if the Windows Power Config is used. I've set the Hibernator parameters to CPU=4, Disk=120 and Net=5 and this disregards the brief disk accesses and allows sleep mode.

I think that the DVB transmissions here in the UK must have been temporarily affected by preparations for the upcoming change to digital only and many channel changes.

Many thanks for the help from SUB.

Cool - glad you got it sorted.

I did try the transport streams you mailed me, but they worked here. It pulled in the listings just fine.
