Yes, that is probably the most relevant consideration. But I will be upgrading to all HDMI 1.3 equipment well within the lifetime of the PCH, so maybe I will think of some other use for it. Otherwise, I won't worry about it.

Given that you need to use an external decoder with PCH, what is the advantage of HDMI 1.3 versus HDMI 1.1 with a digital audio connection. I haven't been able to find a clear answer to this.

What if future TV's have Hi Def audio decoders? It would be convenient to just pass the audio to them via HDMI 1.3. And even though cable video may not go to HiDef audio, what about Internet downloads? That may be the wave of the future anyway. I think you can envision uses if you try, though they may not be near-term.

I suppose its a question of focus. I see the "stereo" or home theater receiver as the hub and you see it being in the HD TV. I guess I want to minimize the wires to the TV and the thought of all those speaker wires out the back of the TV gives me the chills.
