GB-PVR 1.1.5
Windows XP x64 SP2
WinTV2000 Hybrid Full CD 4.0.25340

I've setup GB-PVR for the analog channels which receive audio fine. The HDTV channels on clear QAM have a great picture but I don't hear any audio. I can hear audio using WinTV but I hate the Hauppauge channel manager and I'm really liking GB-PVR so far.

For almost all of the clear QAM channels I have an option with or without AC3, I've tried both. I went through all three multiplexer options, and tried the other two audio decoders with no success.

Can anyone recommend the proper configuration for the WinTV-1800 to receive audio on clear QAM HDTV channels?

Its probably because you dont have an AC3 capable decoder installed on your machine. From memory the one that comes with WinTV only works with WinTV (due to a special license key that the WinTV app has to feed to it).

I'd try installing AC3Filter.

That helps tremendously. I installed it and most of the channels I wasn't getting sound on now work as long as I choose the right one (some don't have audio on AC3).

There are maybe half a dozen channels now that still have no audio, and AC3 or not makes no difference. One in particular, TNT-HD, has a regular, #2, and AC3.

Is it possible the cable company doesn't encrypt the video but does encrypt the audio, or is there something else I should try for those channels?

I'm really happy with GB-PVR regardless because now I get ALL the channels that I receive in WinTV (with audio) and MORE (only some without audio).
