I use a Hauppauge PVR 500 (two analog tuners) and I wonder how good the
ComSkip is to cut the adverts out?
I mean, i don't wanna miss something of the show if it's not that good detecting the adverts.

and btw, HOW does it detect it?
I've heard something about the aspect ratio of the show, like that the adverts are usually not in 16:9 but here in Sweden there still are shows not shown in that format so in that case it won't see the difference.

using a PVR150 it works very well. Sometimes you see a split second of advert but not much more and I have never seen it miss part of a show. If it did you can always rewind - comskip only marks adverts to skip , it does not erase them so the whole recorded mpeg is still there.

oh... It just marks them as skip, hehe I thought, just as you said, that it would delete it.

nice, then I'm gonna use that
thanks again Big Grin

and this one can't do the "double speed, same pitch" thing as PowerDVD, right?
I haven't found a setting for it though

To be honest, probably not. I prefer skipping instead of double speed playback. I'd like to have support for it, but unfortunately due to differences in the decoders people use it is difficult to get that type of function to behave consistently. The Cyberlink guys obviously dont have that problem since they know exactly what decoders are being used (ie, always the Cyberlink decoders).
