how do you figure out which decoder your system is using - i set it to nvidias pure video and it wont use it (whereas media center will use it with recordings with no issues). attached logs. thanks

this is a client system, btw - purevid working fine on main server

You can look in the pvrx2.exe-native.log

Code:
2007-12-25 12:10:43.453    VERBOSE    Graph contains the following filters:
2007-12-25 12:10:43.453    VERBOSE     - Default DirectSound Device
2007-12-25 12:10:43.453    VERBOSE     - Video Renderer
2007-12-25 12:10:43.453    VERBOSE     - NVIDIA Video Decoder
2007-12-25 12:10:43.453    VERBOSE     - NVIDIA Audio Decoder
2007-12-25 12:10:43.453    VERBOSE     - GB-PVR Flow Status
2007-12-25 12:10:43.453    VERBOSE     - GB-PVR Parser
2007-12-25 12:10:43.453    VERBOSE     - SOURCE

Set your video decoder to the 'NVIDIA Video Decoder' on the playback tab of the config app then check that file.

Its worth noting that in some situations the nvidia decoder doesnt show its tray icon even when it is being used.

turns out that what i had to do (this makes no sense to me, but its working) - rendered a recording in graphedit, checked what decoders it was using, uninstalled those decoders (since i dont need them, at any rate).
Re-rendered and it was using the nvidia dec and 'mpeg audio' - opened the file in windows media player and it was using nvidia purevid again, so went into gbpvr, set it to nvidia video, mpeg audio and waveout - didnt work, so changed it from nvidia video to system default, and it works fine now, definite difference in video quality.

very odd... oh well, its working!
