I like the red recording highlight at the top of the TV guide to show that there is a recording somewhere on the channels.

However.

For one of my recordings it does not show the extra highlighting at the top - the program itself is highlighted.

Why is that?

Also is there any indication of recordings that have not occured, eg, they have been missed because the PC was turned off. (in the program rather than the log!)

Cheers

If a recording didnt occur because the machine was turned off at the time, then it should show up in the 'ready' section of the Recordings screen, but with the status showing as 'Failed'.

Thanks for the info.

But I can't see any failed, maybe none have!

Should I see it on the whats new screen and instead of ready it will say failed?

cheers

No, it doesnt list them on the Whats New list, only the Ready list.

Strange that - it was scheduled at 12:10am for 30 minutes.

However it failed to record.
(Sub, it would be really helpful if the failed recording showed up in the whats new as that gives a nice list of what's been happening with the recordings in the past few days)

The recording only failed because the previous one (3 hours earlier for 30 mins) got 18 minutes through and the recording service crashed.

Funny it was the show that failed that didn't give the red colour - did it know before?!!

Cheers

That wouldnt be marked as a 'failure'.

A recording is only marked as failed if it was unable to start, like the machine was switched off during the recording time.

Yes thats what happened the recording service crashed and I got a not quite complete recording which was marked as ready but missing the end of the program.
Then the next recording was marked as failed (once I'd located it) as it could not start because the recording service was not longer running.

I only noticed it because live tv would not work - I think it thought there was not tuner free or maybe just not responding.

It's crashed a few times now.

Yep, thats the exact behaviour I'd expect.

Post the logs after a crash and I'll take a look. Also check if there was any error listed in the Windows Event Viewer.

Hi Sub - its crashed again.

Here are the logs and a few pics of the event view which look a bit iffy.

The crash occured at 2008-01-03 08:56

The recording service log has a number of the following lines repeated; what do they relate to?

2008-01-03 08:56:25.406 VERBOSE [7] RenewLease 2
2008-01-03 08:56:25.406 VERBOSE [7] forcing refresh of next 2 hour events for all capture sources
2008-01-03 08:56:25.406 VERBOSE [7] RenewLease finished (accepted - preview mode)

which it seemed to be doing every 0.5 seconds.

The event view shown in the pictures relate to the PC as it starts up but they look a bit odd - I don't know if they are related or what they mean.

The first one is to do with mobsync.dll which is something to do with IE offline web pages.
The second event perflib is to do with netbui and performance counters - so nothing relevent there.
The third one is the minidump report

Thanks for looking at it

cheers
