Well that's quite good in one way. It must narrow it down a bit.

I tried all posibilities of the diseqc option - I don't know what setting I should use. I thought this was just for motor control and for now I was assuming that it pointed to the right place so I can set it to none.

However I tried the "powered" with "simpleA" setting then I got channel names but no video or audio in the preview window.
"powered" with "C" I get names but no video / audio.

But now I scanned again and nothing. Ah just scanned using "C" again and I immediately got a frame of video (just one!) in the preview but no channel names.

I've also got the CRC checks ignored, I've tried with CRCs.

Its not consistent with the info that it shows when scanned - I've scanned a lot of times now and sometimes I get channel names sometimes Unkown and sometimes both (but mostly unknown).

What do each of the powered and BDA options and diseqc settings do? Maybe they don't match my motor (Diseqc 1.2) whereas the DVBStreamExplorer settings do and get a good stream of data.

I guess I can't point the config to the captured stream of data.

I could try unplugging the motor (have to do it at the weekend as its too dark in the evenings here, don't like being up a ladder in the dark!).

Any further ideas ?

cheers

Keith

Regarding the diseqc setting, what DVB-S capture card do you have?

It is the Compro VideoMate S350 DVB-S

It has the BDA drivers and I set it up in the BDA.ini file.

cheers

Ok, the diseqc or powered settings are totally ignored with that device. It doesnt matter what you select for these settings. Any difference you thought you saw would just be a coincidence.

GB-PVR will only do something with that setting if you have a Twinhan, Hauppauge or FireDTV device.

Will a Hauppauge card control the motor?

Are the settings required for the motor sent through the card and that is why it's not working. Whereas the capture program is setting something extra?

I'm not sure what the options are. Do I have to scrap the card?

No, not currently, but it does supports diseqc 1.0 four way switches with these cards (and 22KHz switches on the Twinhan cards). It is possible that Twinhan and Hauppauge cards will control the motor in a future release. I have Moteck motor but have never got around to hooking it up and adding support for it. I cant give any guarantees though.

I wouldnt think so, but maybe you should try removing the motor temporarily to see if it makes any difference.

Ok - removed the motor from the equation and no change at all to the "unknown" channels.

The picture I get using the TV software that comes with the card is very good and no stutter and I get all the channel names.

So it must be something with the PVRX2 setup / config.

And you said that the captured stream I had could be decoded ok. Only leaves PVRX2 config putting the card in an odd state or not decoding the stream the same as your decode did.

Its probably something about this specific device or its drivers that doesnt like the way GB-PVR does things. I've no idea what that might be though.

Without having one of these devices here for my testing there probably isnt too much I can do about this. Sorry.

This is one of the reasons I recommend people stick with the cards I use. Hauppauge cards etc.

Is there more than one version of the Nova-S plus?

Can I get PVRX2 to record via the A/V input on the card? I assume not as there is no hardware encoder but maybe I could control some other software to do it.

Also is there any motor control or plugin to control the motor? again it may be possible to control the motor using an IR blaster to change the STB, is it?

cheers
