Hi - can anyone help with this? I installed 1.1.5 - which appears to run OK.

However, I cannot get any data into the EPG. This is what I did (from memory - I am on a different computer at the moment):

1. Created a directory c:\xmltv
2. Downloaded xmltv 0.5.50 (latest version?)
3. Unzipped it in c:\xmltv
4. From a command line I ran
Code:
xmltv.exe tv_grab_uk_rt --configure
and chose the channels I wanted
5. Then I ran
Code:
xmltv.exe tv_grab_uk_rt --days 14 --output tvguide.xml
This appears correctly in c:\xmltv and has a load of content in it

5. I then ran GBPVR config and set up c:\xmltv\tvguide.xml as the source under the xmltv section.
6. I then clicked on update EPG. I got the message that it was updating etc. However, this message then hung for 20 minutes or so.

I had to cancel and then when I fired up gbpvr there was nothing in the epg. I tried the "empty epg" option and tried step 6 again - no result.

TIA for any help

RJ

First I would use xmltv gui from http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/ . It's easier to use and set up. Then try as you did before.

To configure try
xmltv.exe tv_grab_uk_rt --configure --gui

then download the epg by using
xmltv.exe tv_grab_uk_rt --output tvguide.xml

This works perfect for me & downloaded my epg up to 17th Jan

Thanks for the tips folks. I'll give both a try.

For general info - I backed up my tv_grab_uk_rt.conf and the tvguide.xml and then tried just three channels for 1 day. Worked perfectly. I then tried my old config file which is set up for 76 channels but this time only selecting 2 days. It worked perfectly again, but took nearly ONE HOUR before the "updating epg" dialogue box closed down.

I don't know if it goes to the internet for anything (thought it just used the tvguide.xml file) but anyway I have a 3 Mb broadband connection. I also have a 1.7 Gig pentium mobile chip and 1 gig of ram which should be reasonably fast. Any ideas why it takes so long, or is that normal? If so, it would take several hours for 76 channels x 14 days!

I'll give the other tips a try now.

Cheers

RJ

EDIT BTW - I did notice that the output from the command to grab the radio times epg gave a lot of errors - the usual "Bad /unknown characters in line XXX" or whatever it is. However, xmltv is so unreliable that I don't take much notice of these errors as long as the epg has something in it....
