Multidec with Hauppauge dual tuner fails

Its possible the card isnt delivering enough TS packets, but I think its more likely the MDAPI filter isnt handling the chunk sizes those TS packets are delivered in from this card, or something similiar.

Yes, that seems to be Agarwal's thought too, as he is looking into the buffering code.

I have 14 days before I have to return the card and get a refund. The issue needs to be fixed before that.

I have now returned the Hauppague tuner and gotten a Cinergy 2400i DT instead.

Things have improved a lot with this card, however not a to a point where it is fully stable with mdapi. There is some work going on with mdapi on DVBN which should enable it to decode multiple streams at once, but with GBPVR it is unstable. Sometimes it works, and other times it fails. Even when I tune to an FTA channel.

My thoughts on this is that Sub's switching on and off of the filter as needed does not work well. Sometimes the filter seems to be on even for FTA channels.

Sub, can I enable the mdapi filter to be on always, as before, just to check if that settles some problems? With the new mdapi filter the CPU load should be considerably less, and it is designed to work with multiple streams so to have it always on should be no problem (hopefully)...

Correction, a Terratec Cinergy to be exact.

One thing to note is that I had to manually include the config in the bda.xml (I think) file. There was no built-in config for it in GBPVR, even though the card is listed in the Wiki. With the manual addition of the card, it worked well to detect it.

I had the same problem with nova-t 500. But the interesting thing was that it worked with DVB Dream :confused:, with the same MDAPI.

It would be good to have a solotion to this problem.

Strange indeed that it works with DVB Dream. The info I could find indicated that it had the same problem with Mediaportal also. I liked the t-500 as it also had a very good remote that integrated fine with GB-PVR, so ditching it aked a little. The Terratec product has a remote that is worse, although it has a nice remote software which you can use to integrate it with al sorts of application including GB-PVR. The sad bit is that it has too many bugs. So Terratec is almost twice the price of the Nova and I have to get an MCE remote too. The positive about the Terratec is that it fits on a PCI-E slot leaving the two PCI slots in my u-ATX motherboard alone.

Hope the situation improves with MDAPI support soon.

As long as you start live tv on an encrypted channel, then it should be always on.

If you enable transport stream logging by creating the following registry setting, and create a c:\temp directory, then it should create (large) c:\temp\psi.log file when you view live tv. Each time you change channels, you should see a mdAPI->ChaneChannel(...) message with the info it passes to the MDAPI filter. These messages will hopefully give you some clues to help track down the cause of your problem.

If you find some multidec filters work fine in another app, but not GB-PVR, then I'm pretty sure the bugs arent in GB-PVR, but rather in Agarwal's MDAPI filter. That said, the multidec stuff works 100% with me on my cable operators Irdeto2 DVB-C network (with Yankse plugin). I've never had a failed recording.

You've got Irdeto2 DVB-C in New Zealand? That's great news since we've got the same in the Netherlands with provider Multikabel. I always thought I needed an Alphacrypt to decode this stuff (with a valid subscription card, of course), but now I think I'm going to try a programmer with Phoenix interface, since there's no CAM-support in GBPVR. If you've got it working, why shouldn't it work for me?

I always thought I needed an Alphacrypt to decode this stuff (with a valid subscription card, of course), but now I think I'm going to try a programmer with Phoenix interface, since there's no CAM-support in GBPVR. If you've got it working, why shouldn't it work for me?

I got one of these. It's not a programmer, but if you're only going to read from the card (which I guess you are), then you don't need a programmer per se. A reader is good enough
