Thanks for the help, I'm going to try hipmouse tonight when I get back from work. I would try the simple browser, but the main reason why I want to use a webbrowser to on my htpc is so that I can watch shows on abc.com or nbc.com etc. Unfortunately they seem to only support IE Sad

If you are already running hip for GBPVR, you'll have to use a different remote (or remote profile in your remote control) - for instance, I use a universal remote and just use the DVD remote profile when I want to use hip mouse (I just make sure the DVD player is turned off Wink. Otherwise what will happen is Hip won't know which config to use when you press a key that is listed in both (ie. the down arrow key).

It's really not difficult to setup and doesn't take long. There may be better ways to do it, but here's how I did it:

- Open the Readme.txt for HipMouse
- run hipmouse, right click the mouse icon in your task bar, and select settings
- open the config for HIP
- Select a new program radio button, and click the folder icon
- Select the Application, browse to where ever you have hipmouse.exe located
- The "Window Class Name" is HIPMouseDlg
- click the okay button

Now to map the buttons:
- click "add value"
- press the button on the remote, and verify
- add a description
- copy the "POST(1226,#,0,HIPMouseDlg,HIP Mouse 1.1)" line from the readme.txt
- Paste the POST line into the Primary Command box
- flip over to the hipmouse config screen.
- in the wparam column, there is a number associated with the mouse action and the keyboard key name.
- flip back to the HIP screen
- change the pound sign (#) to the number in the wparam column
- Click the okay button
- Repeat for the rest of the remote buttons.

Also, don't forget to put a shortcut to hipmouse.exe in your startup folder.

It may sound sound confusing, but it'll make sense once you get the config screens open.

Here's how my hip config looks for hipmouse:

Have you checked out ubustream? Not sure if abc or nbc are supported, but it might give a more remote friendly interface with less work?

Hey Flyswatta,
I got hipmouse to work to a certain degree. Up, down, left, right, and click works great but only when the hipmouse settings are in focus. I would assume that theres some problem with the window class name, but hip found the same name that you're using. Any ideas?

Not sure, it works fine while it resides in my tray. In other words, I don't keep the settings window open for normal usage.

HIP could be getting confused if you use the same ir profile button mapping for GBPVR and HipMouse. What I did to get around that is to select "dvd" on my remote, and used the IR codes from that to control hipmouse.

I'm going to work on it tonight, but I do use "VCR" for gbpvr and set up "SAT" for hipmouse. Are there any other global hip settings that might affect this?

Hmmm, well I just ran a test. I opened PVRX2 and it was taking commands from my remote (using the PVR profile on my universal) and then selected the DVD profile, and hipmouse took over and worked even though PVRX2 had focus. It's starting to sound like for some reason HIP isn't sending the commands to hipmouse unless the config screen is up.

Are you doing a 'hide' on the config screen not an 'exit' to close the hipmouse config screen? Exit will close hipmouse altogether, which isn't what we want.

I figured it out. There are two settings in preferences that's I changed. The first one was "Automatically change key configuration" (I have no idea what that did) and the second setting I changed was on the alternate input tab I selected "unique keys." I think the unique keys option was what really made it work correctly. Thanks for all of your help!

Have you noticed that if you press a direction twice that the mouse starts moving in that direction by itself? I really like that feature.
