Which processor are you using? PVRX2 needs at least a 1GHz PIII class, and a video card which supports Directx9, if I remember correctly.

I'm having the same choppy video problem w/ PVRX2. I'm recording HD videos use the HVR-1600 and the videos play nice with VLC or Window Media, but are poor on the VMR9. I'm running a 3GHz processor and ATI 9550 (256MB). What are we missing?

I recommend downloading DScaler MPEG-2 codecs and setting the config app to use them.

Also set the config application to use VMR9 Full Screen Exclusive (FSE).

Doing so sorted out all my video troubles, but I use an Nvidia card.

i think the video card isn't up to it..[just barely, 9600 can barely do it]
but using Full Screen Exclusive mode is your best bet..and try using the ati decoder..

Any suggestions on a solid buget performer? Less then $100. PCI or 8X. I did go cheap on the card, around $50. I'm a newbie to the whole video card arena.

Try using GBPVR in overlay mode to see if that helps. I'm not sure if the MX440 is up to the task of PVRX2.

I think most of the latest offerings from either Nvidia or AMD offer hardware accelerated HD decoding (the cheapest may struggle with 1080p though). AMD have just released the mainstream 3000 series.
