I recorded the Seahawks-Packers game this weekend, but when I skip ahead (or it auto skips a commercial) it jumps to a spot near the beginning of the recording.

Is this an indication that the recording is corrupted? If so, does anyone know of tools to repair mpeg files?

If not, is there something in GBPVR that maps the times to points in the file? If so, can that be fixed?

Its almost certainly the PVR150 timestamp bug: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14006

It also affects the PVR500 devices, which are effectively two PVR150s.

Yeah, but for recordings which have already passed - tyr running it through PVAstrumento or VideoRedo (using the quickstreamfix option) and see if you get a watchable file - not sure if this will work with the 150 timestamp bug though.

The driver I'm running is the 2.0.48.24227 dated 8/15/06.

Since I'm in the US, I assume it is the one listed as "Current CD Image" in the wiki.

From what I gathered, I only need to do the registry change. Is that correct? or should I update to Hauppauge's latest?

I'm not that up with the driver version numbers, but if its higher than the one provided in that thread then it should be fine, but you will need the registry settings (followed by a reboot).

Thanks - I just made the reg update - it will probably be a while before I know if it's working since this is only the second time I encountered this problem in the 6 months I've been using it.

I've had this problem before, and it mostly seemed to happen when I was playing wow while recording. My solution was to play the file back in Cyberlink's DVD software - it doesn't share the direct show filters and it's own plays them back fine.

Sucks, cause you lost your commercial cuts, but at least you can watch it.

Looks like the registry changes didn't fix the problem. The newest episode of Chuck says its only 20 seconds long - even though the whole file is there.

Even though I already have a more recent driver than the one in the link, I'll go over to Hauppauge & get the latest - hopefully that helps.

Any ideas on how to repair the file? <never mind - found it on the wiki> I've been looking forward to Chuck forever it seems... Sad

I ran into this problem with a HDHomeRun using the DVR-MS, ATI, and Cyberlink Muxes. Was never able to solve it completely. I switched to the TS Mux and the problem is solved but I lost the ability to live timeshift. If you dont use live timeshifting I would suggest trying the TS Mux.

Sorry just saw it was a hauppauge pvr-500, disregard what I said

I was able to fix the timestamp on the corrupt file using the retime tool from the wiki.
