Laptop playback of the video recorded on the desktop has this:

Code:
2008-01-27 10:09:59.937    VERBOSE    Graph contains the following filters:
2008-01-27 10:09:59.937    VERBOSE     - Default DirectSound Device
2008-01-27 10:09:59.937    VERBOSE     - Video Renderer
2008-01-27 10:09:59.937    VERBOSE     - HCW MPEG-2 Video Decoder
2008-01-27 10:09:59.937    VERBOSE     - HCW AC3 Audio Decoder
2008-01-27 10:09:59.937    VERBOSE     - HCW MPEG Demultiplexer

Sound and video work.

Desktop playback of a video recorded on the laptop has this:

Code:
2008-01-27 09:56:09.437    VERBOSE    Graph contains the following filters:
2008-01-27 09:56:09.437    VERBOSE     - Default DirectSound Device
2008-01-27 09:56:09.437    VERBOSE     - Video Renderer
2008-01-27 09:56:09.437    VERBOSE     - AC3Filter
2008-01-27 09:56:09.437    VERBOSE     - MPV Decoder Filter
2008-01-27 09:56:09.437    VERBOSE     - CyberLink Demultiplexer (HP_DD2005)

Video but the slightest hint of sound - extremely faint.

Full disclosure: Laptop has Cyberlink PowerDVD, desktop doesn't. Laptop has both Hauppauge WinTv-PVR USB2 and WinTv-HVR 950 drivers and software installed on it. Desktop has WinTv-PVR 150 and partial installation on WinTv-HVR 950 of it - I didn't install the WinTV application nor the WinTV scheduler.

It'll be somewhere in those differences you've highlighted:

Quote:2008-01-27 10:09:59.937 VERBOSE - HCW MPEG-2 Video Decoder
2008-01-27 10:09:59.937 VERBOSE - HCW AC3 Audio Decoder
2008-01-27 10:09:59.937 VERBOSE - HCW MPEG Demultiplexer
vs
Quote:2008-01-27 09:56:09.437 VERBOSE - AC3Filter
2008-01-27 09:56:09.437 VERBOSE - MPV Decoder Filter
2008-01-27 09:56:09.437 VERBOSE - CyberLink Demultiplexer (HP_DD2005)

You'll have work through the filters, trying to remove them on the client and replace them with alternative filters.
