Hey all, I had no trouble setting up a previous version of GBPVR, but I downloaded the new version, installed and configured, started it up, clicked LiveTV and got the error message "Failure to communicate with GBOVR Recording Service. I have a Hauppauge 350 (and it's selected in the config). Any ideas?

You can get this if you've missed a setting in the config. Go into the capture source you setup, and make sure you click all the settings buttons.

Had the same problem, but then I disabled Norton Internet Security and it worked fine.

Hello,
I have the same "failed to communicate to recording service" problem.
I've done all settings and disabled all Symantec programms and services too, but Live-TV still doesn't work.
Any Idea what else to do?
Thanks

Any other ideas? I don't have any Symantec programs but I am getting this error as well. I believe I have set all the settings necessary but I am a newbie to this software. I have a Hauppage PVR 250 and am using Zap2It for the listings. Running Windows XP and looked in the Services area but did not see a service that looked like it would belong to this software. Should there be a service running?

There should be service running. In the task list you'd be able to see a process called GBPVRRecordingService.exe.

The only situation I know of where it isn't installed as part of the GB-PVR installation, is when the Microsoft .net v1.1 runtime is installed after GB-PVR. If this is the case, uninstall GB-PVR and reinstall.

If you had already had the runtime installed, use the forum's search button to look for "installutil" for instructions on manually installing it.
