Hi,
After help from sub and a bit of fiddling of my own I have GBPVR working nicely on the MediaCenter 300i. The final hurdle was that the recording service would 'at random' crash, usually during a recording. What seems to have fixed it is turning off the realtime virus checking component of my Virus Checker (F-Prot).

Is the need to turn off virus checking common with GBPVR users? With F-Prot you can't turn off scanning for just particular directories - its all or nothing.

Cheers
Chris

I setup mcafee to scan the whol box every night and i disabled the on access scanning during the day and have no issues. If you dont disable the on access scan i'd at least exclude the tv buffer and video directories from scanning.

i like norton, its good, its reliable, its not the fastest, but one of the best, and doesnt mess with gbpvr, 2003 was the best version, 2004+ you have to register online, which is annoying.

I user Computer Associates ETrust because we have a corporate license at work covering all computer's connect to work. I was having massive delays in GBPVR, and started clean with nothing running, and it was MUCH better. By selective trys, I narrowed it down to my Anti Virus. I set it to exclude the GBPVR services and .EXEs, and exclude the directory. I didn't bother trying to figure out what the actual conflict was.

I have to agrre with Tipstr. Try GriSoft AVG. It's a doddle to set up and use, keeps itself up-to-date, is easily configurable, is recognised as the AV component by Win XP security centre, runs like a charm and...

DOESN'T COST A PENNY!!

Been running with it for about 6 months now and no problems with it (with GBPVR or anything else for that matter). It's saved my PC a couple of times now.
