Next month I'm building a new pc and I'm thinking of adding TV tuner card (WinTV PvR150),except I have a few issues.

GB-PVR home page doesn't show the 150 as a supported TV tuner card only 250/350.

Is WinTv 150 compatible with GB-PVR?

I have DirecTV and I'm using a Hughes DVR receiver model#SD DVR40. From what I've been reading while surfing the web I can't record/control via serial connection using DTVcon since my receiver doesn't support it. I can record via IR Blaster.

I Remember using IR B method 10-15 years ago when mini dishes first came out in conjunction with my vcr. It was terrible experience it was very unreliable method of recording.

Would some one w/ experience recording using IR B via Satellite, please explain how it works using a PVR and a third party recording guide application such as GBPVR, Beyond TV3, Sage TV?.... and is it reliable?

Thanks
RM

Thanks, I have few more Questions:

Does the IR Blaster tune to a specific channel for recording or does it only turn sat receiver on/off?

Before buying Wintv 150
How can I find out if Wintv w/ it's IR Blaster is compatible with my Directv Hughes Tivo Receiver (#sd-dvr40)?

or does it work with all sat receivers?

It'll change channels for you.

It should work, but I've not tried it so cant say for sure. You may get lucky and find someone that has the same box and can confirm.

The Hauppauge BlastCfg lists a could of North America Hughes codes under its list of satelite profiles.
