I just installed purevideo last night and it didn't really do much for me. However, upon reading around some more I found out that I should turn off hardware support or something. The only thing is I can't find this option anywhere. I went to the install directory and found something called nstantmedia.exe but it doesn't run when I click it.

Does anyone know how to work this codec? I want to try it out to its fullist potential before I give up on it.

PureVideo actually gives me a better picture. But it uses more cpu than other decoders. If you're trying to reduce load, your going the wrong direction.

Also, if you disable Hardware support, than your CPU will have to work harder. Usually, if you have the hardware support, you should use it, to take some load off of the CPU...

If you wish, you can use this GUI I wrote to help tweak settings...

Thanks. I'm pretty sure my GPU doesn't support BOTH DXVA and VMR (just VMR I think.) So I may have to give up on it. I was trying to lessen the load on the CPU.
