I have failed on my own, so now I turn to the community.

Is it even possible to use USB tuners with GB-PVR? I have been trying to get the program to work with my tuner. But I have had no luck.

I have the following:

ATI TV Wonder HD 600 USB - Works great with bundled software - Connected through a USB 2.0 port
The latest Drivers
GB-PVR 1.1.5
Windows XP - Up to date
2 GHz Centrino duo - 1 Gb of RAM

At first the config did not detect my tuner. Per the Wiki I used GraphEdit and placed the following in Dirrect.ini:

[ATI TV Wonder HD 600 USB]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=BDA 2883 TVTuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=BDA 2883 Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

At this point the config allows me to select this under capture card type from the recording source option. I have also configured an XMLTV plugin for my EPG. I have tried to map the digital channels to EPG channels, but the scan does not find anything. Oddly enough, it also allows me to select a pinnacle HD USB stick, which finds local over the air hd channels when scanned. When running the program itself it tells me there is no EPG

I have attached my log files as well as a set of screen captures from the link.

Thank you.

Yes, there are lots of people using USB devices.

Something is causing the device to fail to start, so no data is ever delivered to the application and no channels are found. Its not clear why its not starting.

Are you sure no other software is running that could be using the device? This can result in this type of message.

Sadly, closing everything else did not seem to work.

I don't know if it will help at all, but for one reason or another, when I select to use the Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick, which I do not have, it will scan and find many of the over the air and HD channels I get with my antenna. Perhaps something with ATSC or NTSC?

Just looking at your post above, after a nights sleep, the problems is your TUNING_TYPE line. It should read:

[ATI TV Wonder HD 600 USB]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=BDA 2883 TVTuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=BDA 2883 Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Using the settings you suggested, I was able to scan and find all of the over the air channels I usually get when using my antenna and bundled software.

My goal was to get it working with my cable line, however, I do not think I will be able to do this. The site claims, "Analog capture devices must have an onboard hardware MPEG2 encoder," Which I assume mine does not have.

Thanks for your efforts, I'm sorry it did not work out.

Sorry but you're correct - the analog side of this device isnt going to work. It lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder.

Since you are already familiar with graphs and graphedit you can use the graphRecorder plugin to capture the analog side. There are several people using similar cards check the forums,

Thank you for the suggestion carpeVideo, but I do not have any knowledge of how to use graphEdit to any extent and the examples seem to go over my head.

I hope I am not over stepping my bounds, but would anyone be able to recommend any other free software that would fit my situation? The bundled software (CMC) for my tuner is not as good as I would hope.

You mentioned that the analog functionality would not work. I would like to use my VisionTek TV Wonder HD 600 usb to use digital cable. I've tried adding entries to my bda.ini, without much luck. Will it work? What adapter config should I copy to get this going?

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.
