Ok, maybe I didn't give it enough time, but it seems that comskip isn't working on programs I recorded via digital QAM channels. I just sat down to watch Knight Rider in HD with the wonderful hope that all commercials were gone, and they were not. It looked like it didn't even try. Is it because these files have different extensions other than mpg?

What extension?
The current comskip version will only process .mpg , .ts and .ps recordings.
All extension must be lowercase

dvr-ms files. So it seem like it will only do ts for programs recorded via QAM right?

Is there any disadvantage to recording ts vs dvr-ms?

I have been successfully skipping dvr-ms files for about 1 year now...I am assuming that non support of dvr-ms files is not a new "feature" of the latest version of comskip. Erik might have been considering dvr-ms as subset of mpg files or is this something to do specifically with qam (I am just doing ota)?

Ok, so will it or won't it skip dvr-ms files?

Right now, my setup is NOT skipping these files. Is there anything in the config that I need to do to get it to skip these files?

Please respect that people visiting this forum can be in different timezones. I am in Japan at the moment.
Did comskip generate the .txt file with the skip info?
Have you enabled comskip logging?
set
verbose=10
in comskip.ini
Drag and drop a .dvr-ms file on comskip.exe and see if a .txt file gets generated with the commercial skip info.
If not post the comskip log file.
If no such file is generated then there could be some problem in processing.
I may ask you to upload a small recording to my ftp server

Erik, sorry about the bump, but it looked like I was going into the dreaded second page because of a flurry of new posts.

It appears that comskip didn't even try to run because the verbose setting is at 10, but there weren't any logs. It only seems to not run dvr-ms or ts files for some reason. SD programming is working fine. I just dragged and drop a 10 minute episode clip onto comskip.exe and it started working on it right away (.ts file that is).

What could cause it to not run (i.e. kickoff comskip)? Is it a gbpvr setting in the config file? I have the automatically skip commercials ticked of in the misc tab of the config tool, and after program is over in the processing tab.

Also, it appears that my computer runs better (CPU-wise) on .ts instead of .dvr-ms so I think I might stick with that.

Do a recording then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.
