Ok, I have had time to look into this a little more. Unfortunately, bustedse-r's idea didn;t work as there is no window active, just the "Sorry" dialogue box.

The way I see it though is that if gbpvr/pvrx2 is running but there is no active window that my script can bring to the foreground, gbpvr must be barfed, presumably with the VMR9 error.

I have therefore modded my script to manage this situation and kill the gbpvr process if it cannot find a running window.

Attached is an updated version of the script if anyone suffering from this problem wants to try it out.

Just to report back, I've been running my amended version of this script for a week or so now and haven't seen the message once. Could just be co-incidence but it's keeping me happy for now

It's freeware if I remember. Very small remote app. It displays the remote client's desktop in real time, so you can even play with GB-PVR's menu's etc remotely. It does flicker a bit but that's to be expected.

In that case, it's comparable to VNC. Do you see the menu animation in Dameware?

great news! - I was about to bump this post to see if anyone had tried the update. It works fine for me also, I see the occasional message in the log indicating that gbpvr didn;t start properly and so was killed.

btw: there is a small bug in that version (sorry)

should be

DllCall ("kernel32.dll","long","SetThreadExecutionState","long",0x00000002)

this prevents the black screen problem.

I am trying to clean up my script atm and will upload a new version as soon as I can.

I've made the change myself now in the script I was using, but strange it wasn't working for you - using 0x000000002 got rid of the blackscreen problem for me!
