I installed klite megapak, but I had to deactivate ffdshow in order to get my high def stuff to play back stutter free. Apparently ffdshow was hijacking .ts and dvr-ms playback. However, now SOME of my avi's don't playback. Gspot claims that they are xvid mp4 but with some other stuff than usual (pvop or something). Most of my avi xvids play fine but there are some that turn up as nothing found. ffdshow use to handle these fine and I don't know what else to do about it. I should probably try fourccc or cccp or something, but I'm afraid to hose up my system now since most things are working ok.
I was curious if I did manage to find the correct filter, what would I do to make any file type like that permanent. I can connect the dots in graphedit, but does it make it permanent for only that file or for all files like that file is my question?
Please share your codec experiences if you could. What's the optimal codec that is all-in-one? Klite works fine, but ffdshow sucks up more CPU cycles than my dvr machine has. I use it on my desktop machine, but that one has more horsepower.
I guess one more question while I'm at it: how can I find out what ffdshow is doing? When I enable it, it takes over for certain file types, but I'm not quite sure what exact codec it is calling (and Gspot is not much help either).
Thanks and sorry for the long post.
