Works a treat.
Sorry for not searching the forum better. When my machine stopped reliably going into standby/resuming, I'd stop keeping an eye on these threads.
It is amazing what a reinstall of Windows can do.


edit: All that is needed now is a way to keep the damn thing awake when I'm remoting in to it. At present I'm switching power options and trying to remember to do it!

there will be an active network connection via a specific port when remoting... so, why not write a quick&dirty watchdog script like that:

endless loop with 2 checks
- is there an active connection: switch power scheme to disable autostandby & set some variable (i.e. autostandby_disabled = yes) for the second check
- is there no active connection & the autostandby_disabled = yes : switch power scheme to enable standby & set the variable to no
build in some sleep time within that loop to only check it once a minute

let that script always run & you no longer have to remember Wink
