Hi,

I've no idea what the forum etiquette is on this, but I was so cross yesterday (mostly with myself, I think) that I not really in an etiquette place.

GBPVR has been failing to record any programme in the last 3 days. First of all I thought it might be because I was trying to record 2 at the same time (I have 2 Hauppage Nova-T PCI cards under WinXP and have been happily recording off Freeview channels for ages), but I don't think so.

I'm going to try various things shortly to isolate the problem, but in the meantime, I need a programme. The background is that I have friends who home-educate and who don't have tv. I've been merrily recording all sorts of stuff for them (Time Team, for instance) and burning to DVD. Works a treat.

On Monday, I'd set GBPVR to record part 4 of "Life in Cold Blood" with David Attenborough. It didn't work.

Now the etiquette issue comes as I wonder if anybody recorded that and would be willing to email me a copy.

If this is the wrong thing to do, I apologise. I haven't been able to find anything on the forum which says requests like that are forbidden, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Anyway, thanks for reading all that.

I cant help you get your missing programme, but the best thing you can do to resolve your recording problem is to post the logs, along with the names and times of the shows that didnt recording.

I don't know which way round it is but there is a repeat on Sunday BBC1 6pm
It is possible the Monday one is a repeat of the Sunday one though.

If the missing one is "Sophisticated Serpents" then you're OK.

It's also available on Usenet, but that's another thing...Wink

Quote:Life in Cold Blood

Sunday 02 March
6:00pm - 7:00pm
BBC1
Sophisticated Serpents

David Attenborough reveals the fascinating lives of snakes, the most misunderstood group of reptiles. A CCTV stakeout of wild rattlesnakes hunting shows, for the first time, what sophisticated predators they truly are. Attenborough is also on the receiving end of a spitting cobra's chemical weapons system, while the surprisingly beautiful and tender side of snakes is displayed in the sinuous courtship of kingsnakes, and the water birth of 15 beautiful yellow anaconda babies.

Like martint123 said, Usenet is a good way to get the files if you have binary news access.

Did you check that your recording service is running?

I see it's also available on iPlayer for six more days.
It also looks like that missing episode was the serpents one, so the Sunday repeat <should> be ok.

I lost programs once. I had another tool that was supposed to sync time on the server, but somehow it was off by 10 years. (Time was similar, so I didn't notice by looking at the system tray.)

Check your date/time. It seems small and stupid, but that could be your issue.

Well, what can I say but "thanks".
The words "stupid" and "twit" spring to mind.
I've found the problem. I'm embarrassed by my error. <sigh>
And you'd think that somebody with DigiGuide would have spotted the repeat: and yes, it's the right.

Thanks for the help. I will slink away and hide for a bit. <g>

I know how panic mode sets in when you miss something "important" so don't worry.
