Hey guys, so here's the score.. I just got digital cable and I got all of the channels going into the EPG but when I call them up on GBPVR, no worky.. Any ideas what the problem might be. Is it that the PVR250 won't do channels higher than 100 or something like that?

You have to connect to your digital cable box using either SVideo/Composite, and use an IR blaster to change channels to change channels. Is this how you've got it setup, and what IR blaster are you using?

The analog tuner on a PVR250 will not be able to tune in digital channels directly from your cable.

Sub you kinda lost me there...

So I tried taking the output from the digital settop box and feeding that to the PVR250... but it still didn't want to tune in the channels. In fact it was worse... I couldn't get anything...

Normally what I use to change the channels is the media mvp, if that helps.

The the output from the set top box needs to go to your PVR250. This output can be one of three types of cable: svideo, composite, or RF.

No matter what cable you use, the only channel that you will be able to see on your PVR250 is the channel that the set top box is set to. i.e. if your set top box is set to channel 137, then your will only be able to see channel 137 on your PVR250.

If you need to see another channel (other than 137), then you need to tell your digitial set top to change channels. GB-PVR uses an IR blaster to do this. Effectively it pretends to be your set top box remote, and fakes key presses to trick your box to change channels.

Does this make sense?

Ok I think I get it... But if you do this how does GBPVR still record from different channels correctly? And can you still use the TV Guide and stuff in GBPVR?

Oh yeah, and can you use a Coax cable into the PVR250 or does it have to be one of the ones you have mentioned?

Thats why you need to connect an IR Blaster to your PC - so GB-PVR can change the channels on you cable box when it needs to.

You can use coax (which is the RF option I mentioned), but it is the lowest quality of the three. SVideo is the highest quality.

Cool, thanks for your help sub.... I'll get that IR blaster hooked up and see how it goes.

Thanks again.
