I have .net framework v2 installed and GBPVR 1.1.5 running fine. However I've since installed some 'new' software for my work which requires .net framework v1.1 and will not run until I uninstall .net framework v2. I see in Control Panel - Add/Remove Software that both versions of the .net framework are installed and I've read that they can coexist so I guess the work software isn't written in a way that it can distinguish between the two .net framework versions. Unfortunately work is the priority so if I can't resolve this then GBPVR may need to go. Can anyone please advise a solution, such as possibly temporarily disabling .net framework v2 when I need to use my work software?

Wow, I've never heard of that before rwnz - very unusual and I must say *very* poorly written software.

I don't know of any solution for your problem other than bug the software developer - that is a ridiculous requirement. 99% of .net software these days requires a minimum of .net 2.0, they are going to get heaps of complaints if they require only 1.1 to be installed. For that matter 2.0 is backward compatible with 1.1 so it should'nt even be requiring 1.1 to be installed when 2.0 is present.

you just need to install 1.1 before 2.
so after installing 1.1 you can re-install 2 again

Thanks for your comments. The software is written solely for us few dozen agents to use in order to provide a service to our clients so I guess investment in it will be limited, and I've already grizzled to the suppliers of it. I did have .net framework v1.1 installed first. Also showing as installed is .net framework v1.1 Hotfix and .net framework v2 Security Update.

if anything else fails: one way i know to separe them without having to install/uninstall: Altiris Software Virtualization Solution.
uninstall .NET2 & GBPVR => create a software layer in altiris (call it i.e. GBPVR) & install .NET2 & GBPVR in that layer. set that layer to autostart if you like.
when you need your custom app, you have to disable the GBPVR layer (your machine won't know anything about .NET2 or GBPVR installed), after you finished working with your app, reenable the GBPVR layer & you can use GBPVR as usual.

I had the same - install 1 first then 2.
ISTR Ghost needed 1.x installed and didn't like 2 on its own.
