hi!

I am trying to add the letter "r" to the end of each channel number so I can send a special command to my system through hip and the IR Blaster but the change channel in config.exe won't let me add the r at the end.

is there a place to look where I can add this somewhere?

I can send 1234r in hipsend and it does what I want but can't think of a way to send it in guide or scheduled...

any tips?

cheers

You wont be able to add a letter to the channel numbers. The channel number is a number, not some generic collection of numbers and letters.

You can probably edit your capture source '.exe channel changer' settings to have the arguments to hipsend.exe set to "{channel}r" or something similar, which would be replaced with 1234r when hipsend.exe is run.

Thank you sub, I have been searching all over to find the command to it but so far no go

i have tried {channel} r {r} but no luck...

i even figured out to manually change it in your mdb file using sqlspy but I get an error when I load the config file so i gave up that route....

the '.exe channel changer' settings is my only hope but I am lost for the command

cheers

thinking of contacting the fellow who made the hip guide

I will try more things

I'm not at home so cant check the tag is called {channel}, but if it is then you need to set it to {channel}r no extra brackets spaces etc.

thanks for your help sub.

Update to this thread.

I was able to add the commands i wanted as long as there were no spaces. This enabled my satellite pvr to record the same thing that GBPR is recording in sync.

cslokk{channel}xxxrc

Remote map:
c= cancel button
s=stop button
l=left arrow button
o=ok button
r=record button
k=not mapped

c=cancel any dialog box that may be open
s=stop
l=move curser to yes (to confirm stop current recording if any)
o=ok button (this confirms to cancel any recording in progress)
kk=2 seconds of zero command = 2 second delay
{channel}=whatever channel number in the guide
xxx=3 seconds of zero command = 3 second delay (to wait for actual channel change
2=record
c=cancel any dialog box that may be open

I have mapped hip to understand the letter commands and everything works as intended.

Thanks again for your help

This is neat. You've opened a whole new thing. It's cool when people think of things, I'll bet sub didn't think of when he wrote it...

(It probably makes for more problems for him when we play, but it's a hobby!)

How did you teach HIP to send ir commands with a letter?
I try this for some time now, but I'm not successful. Can you show me your hipmce.ini file?

Thank you

Thank you

Hi, I am not sure if you understand what I have done or even if it is what you are looking for. I only need PVRX2 to send functions to my STB every time I request a channel change or from every scheduled recording.

My STB is a PVR and records the stream with AC3 and higher quality with smaller file sizes and each day I copy the files from the STB over to PVRX2 naming them the same as PVRX2 had names them and i get the best of both worlds.

I want "Stop" "Record" "Cancel" "Left arrow" "Ok" buttons to be added to hip so I can send these to the STB each time I schedule a show in the PVRX2 guide.

ok so let's teach hip my STB's Record button.

If you don’t have a CCF file, select the "+ADD IR" button. Follow the instructions onscreen to teach HIP your "Record" button. Once HIP confirms ‘Learning Completed’, it’ll return you to the ‘Add/Edit IR commands’ window.
Under the Button pull down menu find the record caption and select that.

save the label as record and press ok. HIP now knows your record button.

you can use the ‘Test IR’ button to open another small window with which you can send the selected IR code to the blaster, to see if it works or not. If it doesn’t work, select ‘Edit IR’ and then ‘Relearn’ to make another attempt at teaching the code. When you press the test button the STB must go into record or whatever your desired button is. if it does not work stop and go no further and make it work. if it works then it's time to get moving

2 - Teaching HIP the HIPSend codes

HIPSend is a utility that creates virtual IR codes which can be used to trigger events in HIP. our goal here is to open a command window and type "hipsend r" in the dos box and the STB will record.

First, open a command prompt window and navigate to the directory where you’ve put HIPSend, then leave it open and go back to HIP.

The commands from HIPSend are usually added in the ‘Alternative Input’ section of HIP.

Go to menu: File/Preferences/Alternative Input and click ‘Add Value’.

Once you have the ‘Get User Input’ window waiting for a new input, switch back to the command window. Type ‘hipsend r’ without the brackets, and press enter. HIP will catch the code and then you’ll need to confirm it so enter ‘hipsend r’ again. (the letter R is the command I will be using for Record. You can start with any letter)

once you have confirmed the command "hipsend r" you will see "add system wide key value" display and you need to fill out the forms.

under description enter "record"
under the "key name" drop down box find "record" (Or the name of any button you want to use)
under the "primary Command line" look for the button to the right and click it.
This opens the keyboard editor and look for the "Send IR" button" and click it.

This opens the window to where you have the newly created IR record command you learned from the "Teaching HIP to use the IR Blasters" step

Simply pick the Record IR Code we created earlier and now click the "select IR" button and you are almost done.

You will be back to the keyboard editor screen and click ok.

now you will be back to the "add system wide key value" display and click ok to close it.

click ok again in the Alternative Input window to close it.

If you get a "hip control key not defined" message just ignore it and click "yes"

Now hip knows what the heck "r" means.....

Telling PVRX2 to use HIPSend

The final step is to tell PVRX2 to use HIPSend to change channels. In the config app, go into your capture source settings for the tuner that the STB is attached to. From the Channel Changer drop-down, select ‘.exe changer plugin’ and click the ‘settings’ button.

From the window that opens, click the Browse button, use the window that opens and browse to where HIPsend is, select it and click open, then add

{channel}

to the Parameters field.

"{channel}" is the code name used by PVRX2 and HIP to send the number info to the STP. Do not change it.

ok so I taught hip that "r" is the command to send IR Record to my STB

so I simply added the letter r to the Parameters field.

{channel}r

closed and saved and forget about it.....

now everytime I am in PVRX2 scheduling shows in advance PVRX2 and hip will change the channel number on my STB followed by the Record button.

my system is more complicated because once the STB is recording you cannot change a channel lol... so I made more IR commands and added it to the Parameters field

cslokk{channel}xxxrc

Remote map:
c= cancel button
s=stop button
l=left arrow button
o=ok button
r=record button
k=not mapped and equals "wait one second"

so in closing... everytime I PVRX2 starts a recording from my S-video on my capture card it sends the following remote commands to my STB

cancel button stop button left arrow button ok button k k {channel}k k k record button cancel button

whew

with these commands the STB will always free itself and change channel and lock into record mode no matter what mode my STB manages to lock into during the day and night.

break down further.

c - cancel button closes any menu's stuck on the STB.
slo - stop button left arrow button ok button (is the required steps needed to stop a recording on the STB)
r - press record

well hope that was the info you wanted or maybe it will be just enough enough to help someone map an IR code.

*note - too tired to proof read so may not be understandable yet heh bbl

I would like to add that anyone can easily create a batch file and send any combination of remote commands to your stb easily... limited by your need and imagination

hipsend.exe whateverbuttons

Here is the HipMCE.ini info you requested.
