Squeezing regular height PVR-150's into a smaller case?

I'm going to buy a new mobo soon (maybe one of the 780G chipset ones being discussed below) but compared to my current setup with 5xPCI slots, the mini-ATX's all have very few. Can (in general) the normal PVR-150 squeeze into the smaller boxes? What do you do if there's only 1 PCI slot as many have?

Do folks:

• Only re-use one card and buy 1 USB?
  
• Buy PVR-500's instead?
  
• Buy 2xUSB versions?
  
• Use riser cards? Do these work OK if both tuners are going simultaneously?

yip your screwed hence the reason most new boards suck for htpc use
i think you have to buy low profile pvr 150 or use one of those silly riser things that cause even more problems

Hmm. Great. 2 more Q's then:

1. Do the on-baord tuners (generally) have hardware encoding?
   
2. Can you get a Dual-USB h/w tuner like the PVR-500?

personally i went looking for usb/hardware encoding dual tuner
short answer NO

hauppauge do the usb2 analog tuner (single)

i'm using a riser for both pci and agp cards in my vcr...
works well with pvr150 and hvr1600 i have in it...
risers came from silverstone cases,good quality...
[wish i'd gotten the pcie one too, now i can't find them]
but just got low profile HD3450 so won't need one for video..
[upgrading as soon as new version is released..]

can't use a singlepci->multipci as there are technical reasons capture cards won't work with them...[bus mastering,etc.]
mine has 2pci->2pci right angled...these work fine...same exactly as regular..
[uses cable and mini-slot for 2nd pci on mb]
mounting can be a concern with adapters tho...
[mine is all custom so i had to make mounts myself anyways]
