I know what the MVP is, but what is NMT?

Even after being a member here for a few years, I honestly don't know what this is...

Thanks.

NMT is a family of devices, like this one: http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/

The new release has functionality built in for streaming media to these NMT devices. Combined with mvallevand's new mvpmvx2 giving the GB-PVR user interface on the NMT, it makes a pretty damn good client. It effectively gives the same UI as you'd see on an MVP, but the UI is much quicker to respond to buttons on the remote, combined with the ability to natively play all sorts of AVI, MPEG1/2, MPEG4, highdef/lowdef/anydef media.

Admittedly support for these devices is still a work in progress, but its coming along very nicely.

Interesting device, but after much searching I can't find a supplier for one in Australia (nearest being Malaysia) or even a vague idea of pricing.

Anyone got any links?

The NMT device of choice at the moment is the Popcorn Hour A100. It can only be order directed from the manufacturer at this stage. It's US$179 + shipping. http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/

Popcornhour.com

Only place to get that particular model - they ship from Hong Kong for Australia / NZ - and have a warehouse in the States.

Unfrotunately, there is currently a bit of a backlog, so you regsiter to receive an invite to order the device, and then a wait to actually receive the product.

It took about 2 weeks for the order to be shipped after I completed payment details (although the credit charge was done later than that)

You can get another device based on the same chip called IStar - I don't think youcan put an internal HDD in there, but it's much smaller apparently.

Cheers

Probably worth staying away from this one for now, since there isnt a confirmed way to run user binaries on it yet. Hopefully it'll be an option in the near future though.

Thanks guys! thats actually quite resonably priced. I llike the idea of a cheap quiet client with the server running somewhere else.

The user binaries - is that the mvpmcx2 software? it runs on the NMT and takes to the GBPVR server?

Yeah, with 44,000+ posts I guess you can't afford to write novels! (as well as family, work, life....)
I don't know how you do it.

Thanks to Sub & Martin for the work they have put in in getting the port working on the PCH.
Now I just have to wait for mine to arrive - then I'll be able to view the HD transmissions without the video card shutting down.
