Happ blaster codes

I'm back to using my STB with a ir blaster (Happa"#*¤e PVR150)
Problem is it wont send 8 or 9 correctly. It will only trigger the on screen Menu of the STB. This was not a problem before because i didn't have any good channels that had 8 or 9 in the channel no. Now my provider has rearranged everything, and of course lots of good channels from 80 to 99 + 8 and 9!!

I tried changing the number on the STB to avoid 8 & 9 but this is not possible.
I have tried every thing in the blaster config and the learn function does not work.

Does any one know if this blaster can be programmed some how ? or a good blaster to work with hip, event ghost etc? I've looked at USB Uirt but that seem a bit bulky.

BTW running a Happ 45 button remote

I'm bit stuck between here, cant use my Satellite card as no DVB subtitles (poor WAF and Kids AF) Can't get the stb good enough to work on the 150!

What do you mean by "bulky" wrg to the USB Uirt? IMO it works great. I have it arranged so that my STB sits on top of the UIRT's cable, with the UIRT pointing out in the opposite direction of what you would think it should, and it works flawlessly.

Obviously, you can see it's there, but it's hardly noticeable.

What do you use with UIRT? Hip, EventGhost? I suppose the UIRT can learn from a remote?

GBPVR has native support for the USB-UIRT, so you don't need any special software for it. It's been a long time since I installed it, but basically you set USB-UIRT as your transmitter in the config, and then gbpvr starts a learning program, in which you teach GBPVR your STB's remote control signals. It's fairly straight forward.

If you want, you can also map any remote control as input to gbpvr, and that way you can use the usb-uirt as an ir receiver as well as an ir transmitter, so you only have to have one ir device attached to your computer

I ordered me a usb-uirt last Monday and it arrived at the post office today. I'm going to pick it up when I get off work and will be playing with it the rest of the night until Jericho comes on. I switched over from analog to digital cable so the quality of my recordings would be better. My Hauppauge irblaster did not support my motorola stb so I had to buy the usb-uirt. I will let you know how everything goes setting this up.

Here is update on my usb-uirt journey. I finally got my usb-uirt to work with my Motorola DCH6200 box. It was a struggle because I couldn't get the usb-uirt and gbpvr to learn and send the correct channel to my stb. It would learn some of the numbers (maybe 3,4,5) correctly but not all of the numbers (never the #1) correctly. If I tried to change the stb to channel 13, the usbuirt would send the number "3" but not the number "1" to the stb. I went though gbpvr remote control learning process about 6 times and still did not get all of the correct number values. I finally got all the correct values once I found out where gbpvr was storing the ir mapping file and the code for each remote control number. After I found this I ran gbpvr learning process again, only this time I only ran the process for the numbers I could not send to the stb. So if I could not send the #1, when gbpvr remote learning process said press the 2 key on the remote I would press the 1 key, when gbpvr said press the 3 key I would press the 1 key, and so on..and so on...and so on. When the learning process for the #1 was compeleted, I checked the ir mapping file to see what coded was repeated. This gave me the correct code for the #1 and allowed me to find the #1 to my stb.

Now I can finally can change my stb with gbpvr.

Any one know how one teaches it more codes? I would like it to trigger the text on my STB. Also any good guides/links to seting up the receiving bit so I can do away with the
Happ ir/blaster lead. Will be using the Happ 45 remote. (Will be getting a Logitec remote when my kids have finished eating the buttons off the cheap Happ remotes!)

The built-in learning thingy in gbpvr is pretty self explanatory. Basically, gbpvr asks you to press '1' on your remote, and when you have done that it asks you to press '2', and so on

You might get better results in a dark room. The USB-UIRT definitely registers something when you switch on or off energy saving light bulbs, so keep them either on or off during the process

Regarding the text button on your STB... people have gotten HIP to do the most weird things

However, you might find it easier to get a universal remote, which you can teach virtually anything. I myself have a Philips RU-760 and I am very happy with it.
