Generally speaking, yes, this plugin will work with displays that MP works with. I say 'generally', because some drivers use a g_player object which is not implemented in this port and they have not been included in the plugin. I think those displays are those that have more graphical/icon features.
It appear to also work with the LCDHype drivers available from the MP installation, although I have not been able to test this personally. iwan, for example, uses the Noritake T Series LCDHype driver.
